I have heard but cannot confirm that the more memory one adds to a machine, the slower the RAM becomes.
Is there a threshold from which the memory speed decreases? Does it relate to specific memory, specific CPU's or motherboards or is a general issue, commonly known?
Basically I have a Dell T7910, currently with 128gb RAM (2133mhz speed) and would need to increase to 256gb or more and I'm concerned about the RAM speed decrease.
Any pointers are much appreciated,

I bought a new motherboard S1200SPL, processor e3 1220v5, P4304XXSFEN chassis.
After OS installation (Windows 8.1 x64) and drivers installation I have some unknown devices:
Intel 100 Series Chipset Family Serial IO GPIO Host Controller 345D
Intel 100 Series Chipset Family Serial IO I2C Host Controller A161
Intel 100 Series Chipset Family Serial IO I2C Host Controller A160
Intel 100 Series Chipset Family Serial IO UART Host Controller A127.
The system fans are working with maximal speed.
Chipset driver was downloaded from Intel web site (no DVD in motherboard package).
But I can`t find drivers for this devices.
Also BIOS updates was installed from web site.
Is it possible to fix this problem?

Hi guys, I'm new to servers, I need your help. I recently bought a xeon x5450 processor and tried to insert his card when the download begins, there is a lot of post codes, and then downloads the BIOS with an effort and an error is not enough capacity (power). The power supply is 600 W.
I updated the BIOS on the s2600cp2 board from version 01.02.0003 to 02.06.0002. Its a pretty big jump but the notes said it was compatible. Now the system stays on the first screen that displays "Intel Corp... BIOS version... ect." I've left it running for as long as 30 minutes, nothing happens. I want to try to go back to 01.02.0003, which I can still download from the website but there aren't any recovery files. So instead I tried to do a BIOS recovery to any of the versions that give the BIOS recovery files for, which go back to version 02.02.0002. I moved the recovery jumper to pin 2 and 3 with the machine unplugged, plugged in the USB with the recovery files, and started it up. Most I got was the system LED blinking amber and no other error leds, which the screen just displaying the same first screen, two beeps and USB gets power then the USB light shuts off then screen goes black for a brief moment then repeats this loop. Left it going for 10 minutes and still nothing. I believe the EFI Shell should load, but I don't even get an option to get there. I tried hitting F2 and F6 to see if maybe that would work, nope. Is there another way I can go about this?

My s5000xvn doesn't start.
No beeps, no screen signal, POST LEDS stops at Red-Amber-Red-Off state, corresponding to datasheet it means: "Entered EFI driver execution phase (DXE)".
My configuration:
single Xeon 5060 (tried different one for testing),
approved memory - one dimm configuration (tested 4 different dimms),
no hdd (hotswap case disconnected),
sc5400base chassis,
550W PU (also tested 700W),
no other peripherals (even a video adapter).
My system had been working fine for several weeks until i shut it down - in ususal way, without powerloss or smth like that.
All coolers work fine, PSU voltages also seem to be fine after startup, but bios is not loading, i think. If i try to switch on my motherboard without processor or with wrong dimm slot filled, it beeps. So i hope my problem is not some damaged electronics.
I tried to clear CMOS, to force second bios bank boot by jumper - nothing helps.
What else sould i try to do?
Is there an opportunity to update bios somehow in my situation?

Ihave a S5520UR server running with Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.16.0-62-generic x86_64).
For (apparently) no reason the server reboots randomly and I can't find nothing on the logs prior to the reboots.
Does anyone know where could I search for the causes ?

Drive: Hitachi HUS156060VLS60 (B) 600GB SAS
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Problem:
On power-up the controller and drive are recognized by BIOS and controller BIOS runs with no apparent problem. However, as Windows begins to load, the controller fails and the associated drive is not listed as available in Windows. Error returned is code 10.
By chance I discovered that when the machine goes into “sleep” mode or is induced manually and then reawakened, disabling and re-enabling the controller in Windows Device Manager restarts the controller and the drive is discovered by Windows and then is addressable as expected. Disabling and re-enabling the controller in Device Manager from initial boot will not restart the controller.
This workaround is a major inconvenience. The HDD connected to the controller is used to back-up a pair of Adata SATA SSDs running RAID0 from the MB controller. If the OS was expected to run from the RS3WC080 and attached drive the system would be totally inoperable.
Any assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I need to know what models of Intel (or other brands) SFP+ transceiver modules and twinaxial cables are fully supported and compatible with the Intel X710DA2 converged network adapter. I searched through the Intel website to try and find some Intel branded ones but could only find modules and cables that the website said are only compatible with the Intel X520 converged network adapters. Thanks in advance for any info.

I have purchased an Intel W2600CR board - PBA G21602-306 and cant get it to boot.
It either comes up with Orange System Status LED and LSB lit or I get Green System Staus LED and post code 35h (LSB,#2,#4,#5).
I have tried a single E5-2670 and dual E5-2670 CPUs. (V1 CPUs)
If I remove the memory I get 3 beeps as expected.
The memory I have in is Hynix 4GB 2Rx4 PC3-10600R-9-10-E1 at the moment just a single DIMM.
But I have aslo tried up to 4 DIMS from my Dell C6100 with no success.
Any advice appreciated.

I bought few months ago used server with Intel board S5000VSASASR. It was originally equipped with two Xeon 5030 and 4 GB of RAM. Both CPUs working. Then I was working on some projects and didn't have time to watch if everything if OK or not. Then out of the blue I noticed I have only one CPU. Which seemed strange, so I tried updating BIOS, tried everything like cleaning CPU slots, change heat transfer paste, but nothing helped. So I decided to buy new CPU since they are really cheap. I choose 5405 - bought two of them and still the same problem. Both CPUs are working, since only one is showing no matter how I switch them. But the strange thing is - BIOS is showing only CPU in SLOT 2. Which the board shouldn't be able to do. Can you point me what could be wrong and which utility install to troubleshoot what is wrong? If I only want to replace my motherboard and keep the chassis and the processors, what motherboard should I buy as a more recent version (supports DDR5 for example)?

I'm trying to enable AMD crossfire on a S2600CW2 without luck.
Depending on the manual version i find this sentence.
"The server board supports up to three full length full height double-width PCIe cards on slot 2, slot 4, and slot 6, and supports 2-way and 3-way Nvidia* SLI and ATI* CrossFire cards"
Before I spend anymore time on this, i would like a definite answer if it is possible. Does anyone know?
