Is Intel RS25SB008 completely compatible with LSI 9286cv-8e?

Hi.

I want to purchase an LSI 9286cv-8e RAID controller card (http://www.lsi.com/products/raid-controllers/pages/megaraid-sas-9286cv-8e.aspx)   for a storage server.  The Intel version of this card is Intel® RAID Controller RS25SB008.  It just so happens that I can get the Intel card for significantly less than the LSI version of the card. The LSI card supports my hardware (a Dell R620), my disks (WD 15K RPM SAS drives), and my storage enclosure (Dell MD1220), so it's safe.  In the Intel documentation for the card, there is no mention of compatibility with non-Intel boards.  However, I believe that the Intel board either uses the identical LSI firmware, or can be flashed with the LSI firmware.  Is there any issue with using the Intel RS25SB008 in my Dell?

Thanks!

Jason.

Hi,

I just build a server with S2600CP2 motherboard and P4308XXMHGC 4U Pedestal Chassis.

I did not update the BIOS.I found that BISO version is  01.08.0003 which is the latest BIOS.

However, under server management, it does not detect the Chassis. It make a loud noise.

I checked the fan connection and changed the acoustic setting. Please check the attached picture.

I was wondering do I need to run the bios update again ?

RAID 5 Recovery

Hi Guys. Big Crisis here.

I have an Intel RAID Controller, 8 Chanel with 8x 2TB Drives configured on RAID 5. I made a mistake of unplugging one of the drives and then booting up my machine. It then said RAID Configuration Degraded. By the looks of it, I had one failed drive already on the configuration before unplugging this other one in error. I then managed to bring both drives back online and the Utility showed Optimal Status. Now when I reboot, Windows wants to initialise this entire VD. It seems to see it as a new drive. Its 12.7TB of drive space and its filled to capacity. I cant lose all that data. Is there a way to fix this? I have not initialised it yet.

I'm using Windows 8.1 64bit on an AMD APU System. Controller model is SRCSATAWB. I've also installed latest drivers and firmware. As we speak now, the drive is running a Backgroung Initialisation Process.

Thank You

It says system degraded and all the hard disk lights on the front are red. How can I locate which disk failed. I have a little bit unix experience. I mainly use windows. Since it is degraded, I should be able to recover the files or copy of them if I can bring the system back.

Dear Sirs,

I have an intel S2600CW server board with an inyel ESRT2 Raid controller.

I am trying to install VMWare ESXi 6.0 on it and the RAID controller is not supported.

Intel Deployment Assistant on USB - unable to access boot device?

Hi I have an old S5000PSL server. Am trying to use Intel Deployment Assistant (most recent version 014). Got the ISO image and transferred to USB as a bootable image using Rufus. When I boot, I get the splash screen saying that the application is loading, then a text screen indicating that it's unable to access the boot device and whether it should restart. A restart of course yields the same result. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Unable to install Ubuntu 14.04 or higher, Centos 7 or higher on S2600cp server board system

I was trying to install Ubuntu 14.04LTS, 15.04 and CentOS 7, 7.1 on my S2600CP2 server board based system for several days. With Ubuntu 14.04 or higher, install procedure was terminated shortly after the Ubuntu logo showed up, showing the error message: “ i8042 no controller found”. With Centos 7 or higher, after choosing “install Centos 7”, same error showed and the computer restarted.

I learned later this error has something to do with PS/2 mouse or keyboard. In the bios setup, set “Port 60/64 Emulation” to be Disabled, all went well until the installation setup options for both Ubuntu 14.04 and Centos 7, but usb keyboard and mouse are disabled, I can’t choose an option or type in anything. Then have to reboot use the power button.

Please help me with this, there must be a way to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

JBOD2312S2SP Power Supply Issue?

I have a JBOD2312S2SP Intel Raid Enclosure (Intel® Storage Systems JBOD Family) at my house and woke up to screaming fan noises.  Warning light was blinking and the console showed this:

Last message until 6 minutes later I powered up a computer to remove in and shutdown the system.  Pulled the power plug, put it back in, powered everything up, and it's running right now without issue.  Thoughts?

Edit:  As a side note, the Intel Raid Web Console shows this drive cage with 2 power supplies.  Always did.  I only have one.  So not sure if that's just how many it can hold or if it's just not intelligent enough to detect the number of drives.

Thanks.

RSTe Setup - Unable to select more that 4 disks

I have a S2600GZ/GL Server System with an S2600GZ motherboard (C602 Chipset). I have installed an RKSATA8 key installed. The issue I have is that I cannot select more than 4 disk drives when setting up a 6 disk RAID 10 configuration in the RSTe SATA Raid ROM. The disks are 2Tb SATA disks. I presume the issue is in the BIOS setup but no matter which configuration I choose I cannot select more that 4 disks (if I setup RAID 5 I can select all disks).

how to increase fan speeds

Hi,

I have installed a compute accelerator PCIe x16 card, 300Watt, power, (nvidia K80).

I want to ensure that the cards is cooled properly by confiming fan speed increase in response to compute card usage.  Currently the card runs a job and reaches ~66C but the system fans remain at normal speed, 4 - 5k rpms, system air flow of 40CFM, intake air temp of 18C.

Will the default fan speeds be increased if I edit a bios setting?  How does the altitude setting affect the air flow?  Will it increase?

I found this link which describes the opposite of what I need to do.  Is there a method to increase fan speed?

Bios upgrade on s1400fp4 to work with E5-2420 v2

$

Hello,

I am a bit stuck and was wondering if anyone else might have an idea.

Here is my situation:

I reccently decided we need a new ESXi-Host so I did some research and decided to go for the s1400fp4 since its supporting a large amount of memory as well as the latest Xeon E5-2400 v2 CPUs (according to the Intel-website). So I bought a s1400fp4 and e5-2420 v2.

Installed everything, power up.....screen stays black. After talkin in the live-chat to gustavo we found that my batch (PBA number G49708-203) has an old bios installed that does not support v2 CPUs. Bummer!

(see attachment)

The Problem:

I was told its not possible to flash/update the BIOS without a (supported) CPU installed.

(Not even with the jumper/usb method)

The Question:

Is the person right ?

Is it possible to update the bios with a V2 CPU installed ?

Is it possible to update BIOS without any CPU installed ?

Can the BIOS chip be removed and updated with an eeprom tool ?

Is anyone willing to lend me their E5-2400 v1 so I can performe the upgrade ?

I was so looking forward to the new system and do not want to spend money on a V1 CPU just to upgrade the BIOS and then try to sell it on ebay or something. (the cheapest i found was the E5-2403)

Maybe someone had the same problem before and found a solution ?

Still hoping for a easy fix

Dear all,

anybody knows how to set the PCIe slot6 of a S1200V3RPO server to GEN3x8?

By default it's GEN2x16, but on the user manual it's written that it could be switched to GEN3x8, although there are no specifications on how to do that.

Thank you and best regards.

S1200V3RPO BIOS Recovery

Dear all,

I have to recover the BIOS of a S1200V3RPO server board, however the backup flash blocks are also damaged.

The only way it's to boot from USB using the optional RML.ROM image, as specified in the user manual.

However, in any System Update Package that I downloaded from the Intel website I cannot find RML.ROM image.

Where should I download it?

Thank you and best regards.
