I have an S5520UR that won't boot and I suspect that it might not have the required bios for use with a 5600 series processor. I can't even get into the bios to confirm this though. How can I determine which bios revision was shipped on the board based on the serial number or PBA?
How to determine BIOS revision board shipped with?
System Status LED amber light blinking for missing fan. How to suppress this?
After spending some time I noticed that if I connect all the fans, the System Status LED with amber light blinking problem goes away.
I think that i need only CPU fan plus two other fans. How do I suppress this apparently spurious warning? I need to do this because if there is some other event leading to a degraded system, I will not be able to distinguish that condition from this one.

PC powered off abruptly.
We have purchased recently Two Intel server board S1200V3RP and installed Windows 7 Pro- 64 bit on it. These System has been powered off abruptly after 1 day or in between 2-3 days and when we power on the system again its started normal mode. Please Advice.
Servers SR15000ALR do not start any more
We have several SR1500ALR servers. In time, at least six of them have exhibited the very same failure mode: as a consequence of a power
outage or of a simple shutdown followed by a few minutes during which the server was unplugged from the mains, they have entered a status
in which the green LED on the back of the power supply blinks and there is no way to restart the server. The start button becomes unresponsive,
although a green LED on the front panel is on. There seems to be no attempt to run the POST.
Swapping parts with other servers, it seems that the problem is located in the main board.
I find really strange that multiple units fail in this very same mode. Is there some known issue or some way to bring these servers back to life?

Massimo Macucci
Controlling fan speed for three pin fans on S1200v3RPS
My fans are blowing on full speed when connected on a S1200v3RPS. The system works fine. Is there a way to reduce the speed (and therefore the unbearable noise associated with the fans running at full speed)? I am not using an Intel or any third-party chassis. Put one together myself. Do I absolutely need to use 4-pin fans to do so? I would prefer that this be done at the EFI/BIOS level rather than the OS level. I am running Ubuntu 14.04, if that is relevant.
Intel S2600CP Server MB and disk signature collisions
Recently we bought Intel Server System based on Intel S2600CP MB. Also we acquired Intel hardware RAID card RMS25PB080. I created four RAID 1 Virtual drives on this RAID card. The physical drives are:
2 Intel 530 Series 240 GB SSDs for Drive 1
2 Intel 530 Series 480 GB SSDs for Drive 2
2 Western Digital R4 1 TB HDDs for Drive 3
2 Western Digital R4 3 TB HDDs for Drive 3
Unfortunately one of these drives is always offline because of:
"The disk is offline because it has a signature collision with another disk that is online"
If I manually change the signature of the disc (With diskpart utility), after restart the collision is back. If I remove this disc, collision occurs with another disc. The conflicting disc always have the same disk signature as System Boot C: disk. Finally I removed the RAID card and plugged the physical drives directly to SATA ports of the MB and reinstalled OS. This did not help either and the collision was there again! I have no idea what to do with this problem and what is the real cause of the collisions. But I have suspicion that there could be something to do with BIOS settings. Maybe there are any special considerations about BIOS Settings when hardware RAID card is used. Or maybe there are any special settings or operations with RAID card to avoid disk signature conflicts.
OS is Windows Server 2012 R2.
Any suggestions please!
RAID Controller not seen on reboot (S2600 - RMS25CB040)
Have Intel Server with S2600ip4LHPC mobo and RMS25CB040 controller.
Upon warm boot, no controller is discovered = no data drive.
Upon cold boot, controller is discovered = have my data drive.
No other issues, is only an issue each month following Windows updates.
BIOSID: SE5C600.86B.01.02.0009.042520121156
RMS25CB040 is 6.702.7.0
Not sure what changed...have not really done much with system since original deployment Q4-2012
Past several months have just been powering down and restarting as work around...
Could have been addition of drive that is on the internal RAID controller....as a non-member, non-RAID drive.
Integrated controller, using ESRT2, has 3 drives, 2 RAID-1, 1 non-RAID
External controller, RMS25CB040, has 4 drives RAID-10
POST never 'sees' the RAID card on restarts - takes a power cycle to discover the card.
We have had some issues with Windows Updates on 2003 servers, this is a 2012... but this is obviously pre-O/S.
Could be driver update distributed through Microsoft updates.
Just curious if anyone has ideas before I start throwing a lot at it...
Another GPU for server motherboard.
I have P4304CR2LFJN (with W2600CR2 board). This board contains only slow matrox GPU. I tried to insert GTX 660, but I was not able to use this videocard for video output and CUDA calculations. Is this server board can use only proffesional cards (for example, Quadro). Any advices?
Intel 5000V Northbridge chipset on server M/Board was used for MS2003/WHS svr would like to maximize life - is it possible to upgrade this chipset to run modern O/S? If possible Clues on how to do this would be g8. Thanks
I have an now redundant server - using Intel 5000V Northbridge chipset on Supermicro X7DVL-E LGA771 server M/Board which was used for MS2003/ Windows home server software. I would like to maximize life as it has not been heavily loaded. I know it can run MS2008 but would like to use this with say Win7 or Win8. I read somewhere that the chipset on the motherboard is the critical thing to update to address this - is it possible?
If it is possible, Any clues to help would be great.
Thanks
Rick
Motherboard s1200v3rpm has no VGA output
Hi,
I come on this board to ask for some help about a motherboard s1200v3rpm that I bought it to build a SOHO server.
The most immediate problem is that there isn't any VGA output signal from the motherboard, so I am quite unable to figure out the situation precisely.
Here is my configuration:
- MB s1200v3rpm, S/N are: pba g62254-405 / bqrp-34600095
- CPU core i3 4350
- 4GB memory DDR3L Crucial (CT51272BD160BJ - officially supported by the motherboard as mentionned on the Crucial site), in A1 slot
- PSU Be Quiet Straight Power 10 (compatible with c6/c7 states)
- nothing else attached (I also tested with a sata 1TB WD Blue 2.5" drive, but it had no impact).
The boot sequence shows the following flashes from status / ID leds (POST code leds stay dark):
- (for 1s) ID: blue blinking 5hz, Status: amber light solid
- (for 7s) ID blue blinking 3hz, Status green blinking 1Hz
- (for 1s) all off
- (for 14s) ID: blue solid, Status: green 1hz
- (for 1 s) all off
- (forever) ID: off, Status: green 1hz
As I understand from the manual, various causes are possible, and BMC is likely not operational.
The problem is, there is no VGA output whatsoever from the MB (I verified cable and monitor with another computer and they are OK), at any moment during the boot or afterwards (so impossible to go to BIOS, etc.).
Also there are no beeps, plugging an usb keyboard before, during or after boot does not produce anything (keyboard seems unactive, as there is no light on caps lock and num lock toggle).
I did the bios reset to default sequence (using the jumper) as instructed in the manual, but nothing changes.
I am quite stuck at this level, if anybody has an idea and/or experienced the same problems, I would be gratefuls of a few hints.
Thanks,
David

JBOD2312S2SP Power Supply Issue?
I have a JBOD2312S2SP Intel Raid Enclosure (Intel® Storage Systems JBOD Family) at my house and woke up to screaming fan noises. Warning light was blinking and the console showed this:

Note I only have one power supply so if the cable was removed not sure how it was still running. Right after that warning received the below messages copied from the logs so the top one is the latest:

Last message until 6 minutes later I powered up a computer to remove in and shutdown the system. Pulled the power plug, put it back in, powered everything up, and it's running right now without issue. Thoughts?
Edit: As a side note, the Intel Raid Web Console shows this drive cage with 2 power supplies. Always did. I only have one. So not sure if that's just how many it can hold or if it's just not intelligent enough to detect the number of drives.
Thanks.

Fanless power supply
Goodmorning everyone.
I have a card S5520GC which is housed inside a case SC5650DP .
I use the server as a workstation . My problem is that the fan supply is quite noisy , it was also new and now is getting worse .
I want to buy a new power supply , possibly fanless , can anyone suggest me what to buy ?
I do not have any extra power module , I have six hard drives and a video card , I just need a 600W power supply , I would just be sure you have all the cables needed to feed two processors , the board , the fans and hard drives .
I await your advice thanks

would E5-2696v2 work on motherboard S2600CP?
Hello,
I went accross 2x E5-2696v2 processors and tried to use them in one of our work stations based on S2600CP or S2600CP4 motherboards. Unfortunately neither of the computers worked with those CPU's. Both of the computers worked fine with 2690 v1 and 2667 v2 though. So my question is: should the two platforms work with E5-2696v2 processors?
more specific information about platforms:
Chipset: Intel C602 rev. 06
Mainboard Model: S2600CP (0x000001AE - 0x005368B0)
revision: E99552-510
serial: QSCP34300402
BIOS: SE5C600.86B.02.02.0002.122320131210 dated at 12/23/2013
where minimum required bios is ver. 02.01.0002 from 09/07/2013
the list of compatible processors is: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-033241.htm
where 2696v2 does no appear.
looking forward your help.
regards
janusz

P4208CP4MGHC After bios update: Pwr Unit Redund - warning
Hi
Hoping for some help to regain the psu reduncy on our P4208CP4MGHC system.
Everything is original and untampered.
During bios updates last night using OFU I noticed these messages:

After succesful completion of the flash and reboot we have this in the event log:
EventID:1099 Time Stamp:05/29/2015 00:44:59 SensorName:Pwr Unit Redund Sensor Type:Power Unit Description:reports redundancy has been lost -Asserted
EventID:1100 Time Stamp:05/29/2015 00:44:59 SensorName:Pwr Unit Redund Sensor Type:Power Unit Description:reports redundancy has been lost, but the unit is still functioning with the minimum amount of resources needed for normal operation -Asserted
-----------------------------------------------------------
In the BMC web console server health I see this:
Pwr Unit Status | All deasserted | OK | 0x0000 |
Pwr Unit Redund | reports redundancy has been lost reports redundancy has been lost, but the unit is still functioning with the minimum amount of resources needed for normal operation | Warning | 0x000A |
-------------------------------------------------------------
Is it something in relation to running the updates via OFU and the message stated immediately after starting the update sequece?:
"SDR Auto-Configuration is not supported on this platform"
Would rerunning the update package in EFI help the recognition of the psu´s?
Please if anyone has suggestions on how to work this out chip in.
Best Regards Peter
