Which command line tool for S3500 SSD temperature behind RAID controller RS25DB080?

$

To be able to compare different fan setups I'm logging the temperatures of my drives. All drives are connected to an Intel RAID Controller RS25DB080. Using storcli (storcli64) or CmdTool2 (CmdTool264) I'm getting the temperatures of my HDDs. For my Intel DC S3500 Series SSDs (SSDSC2BB240G401) I'm getting "N/A" instead. The spec sheet @ http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-specifications/ssd-dc-s3500-spec.pdf states: "The Intel® SSD DC S3500 Series has an internal temperature sensor with an accuracy of +/-2C over a range of -20C to +80C which can be monitored using two SMART attributes: [...] Device Internal Temperature (C2h)." I tried SmartmonTools and CrystalDiskInfo without success - they don't support my RAID controller with my OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 64 bit.

Will a future release of storcli or CmdTool2 return the SSD temperature instead of N/A?
Which command line tool or dll can I use to get the current SSD temperature behind my RS25DB080?

S2600-CW2 vmware ESXi 5.5 hangs on ACPI initialization -- Boot loop

Hi there,

I tried to install ESXi 5.5 on my S2600-CW2 board. The installation process breaks up on ACPI initialization and boot again.

Upgrading to the latest Firmware 01.01.0005 (from 0003) didn't solve it. There is no RAID-Controller card, only the two CPUs and one USB-Stick for installing.

For the S2600-CP2 board, there is a recent version of the BIOS that works:

Re: S2600-CP2 vmware ESXi 5.5 hangs on ACPI initialization -- Boot loop

Any ideas how to solve it?

Intel, how can RSTe be uninstalled from a system running Windows Server 2012 R2 Core?

- There is no control panel

- The installation executable does not have an uninstall option

- The registry is not updated as with an msi package

Raid Web Console will not send email if port 25 is blocked even when using a different port

I have Raid Web Console on several deployed servers in different locations, and with our old email servers they were configured to send email via port 587 and this was working, but our email servers now have port 25 blocked and we cannot send email unless port 25 is open in addition to 587.  I can use process monitor and watch the raid console connecting to port 25 and then 587, but I see no reason it should try to connect to port 25 at all. We currently had them change some firewall settings to open port 25 for us but we shouldn't need to do that and I don't think they will do this forever. I can use a regular email client using only port 587 and send email just fine, without ever using port 25.  Seems like a bug.  I updated the servers in question to Raid Web Console 14.08.01.06 and they are having the same issue.

It would be nice to be able to use SSL/TLS for email with the Raid Web Console also, as many email providers will only accept SSL/TLS connections and most of us would prefer to use it even if not required.

Thanks,

Andrew

Fan speed still high after firmware update on Server System P4308CP4MHEN

The motherboard (a S2600CP4) is preinstalled in the system, so the cabling should be correct.

When I first turned the system on. both fans ran at hight speed. After doing the firmware update, the top fan (Fan 2) is running correctly. But the lower fan, which I believe is fan 1, is still running very fast.

I have updated the firmware using the EFI a second time.

When updating the FRU, I see the following messages.

The system detects the Intel Server Chassis P4000M Non Redundant Fan SKU is detected,

8 x 3.5 Hot Swap Backplane 1 is deteced

Probing system for sensors and FRU device hardware...

Updating FRU areas

Processing FRU File .\S2600CP.fru...

Do you want to update the chassis info area of the FRU? I choose "N"

Do you wan to enter the chassis manufacturer name (Additional Field 1)? I choose "n"

Do you want to update the system info area of the FRU? I choose "n"

It does show FRUSDR update completed.

When I go into the BIOS under System Information I see: BMC firmware revision 1.22.6890, ME Firmware rev. 02.01.07.328, SDR rev. SDR Package 1.11.

I have played around with the System Acoustic and Performance Configuration, but those changes did not make any difference.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I also downlad raid driver,it detects the driver but after selecting the driver, face with this error again.

I disabled both SAS and SATA raid controller, but face with this problem again.seems not detect non of hard drives, but I can see hard in boot menu option.

Xeon E3-V3 and S1200V3RPL supported memory voltages?

Hello,

Does S1200v3rpl and Xeon E3 1200 v3 support 1.5v memory as well as 1.35v

I wasn't aware of the LV requirement and have built systems with 1.5v RAM and they have worked fine.

But does the chip/board combo officially support 1.5v memory as well as 1.35v memory?

Hi !

We have server R2208ip4lhpc (fw 02.03.0003) with RMS25CB080 (fw 23.29.0-0016), AXXRMFBU2 (fw 0016).

Drives 5x HGST HUC109060CSS600 (600gb Enterprise SAS 10k 6gbit/s) configured as two RAID1 sets and global hot-spare.

Operating system Windows 2012R2, only with Hyper-V role.

Storage driver version 14.05.02.03.

Raid module setting (on both virtual drives): strip size 256k (default),  Disk cache policy: enable, Read policy: Always read ahead, IO policy: cached IO, Default write policy: Write back with BBU (current write policy= write back). (Those are the settings giving best performance.)

Problem is slow performance with reading or writing small blocks up to 64k (picture bellow).

serv10.JPG

This is (my baseline) performance from HP DL380g8 with roughly the same configuration (P420i, raid1 with 10k sas drives...)

Am i doing something wrong or is this normal?

S2600GZ undocumented LED diagnostic code?

We have four identical servers based on the S2600GZ board, three of which are running with the POST Code Diagnostic LEDs lit in the combination 1101(amber)0100(green), while the fourth one has all of them off.

That combination (D4h) is undocumented in the Technical Product Specification doc for the board, and I wonder what it could mean...  all three servers show up as healthy in the RMM4 web interface.

Thank you.

I happen to have a new old stock s5000xvnsatar motherboard and am looking to find the last bios update they made in 2010 but am not having much luck. I am not sure if all the boards marked s5000xvn had the same bios just different on board features or what it has i did try to update the bios automaticly from the included cd and it failed and i am now looking for the final bios to this board. where would i find the final bios and what if anything does the final bios have in it thats not in the 2009 bios since this board has a 2009 bios from the factory.

MFSYS35 with Intel® Modular Server Storage Management Pack questions.

Hi,

I need to convert a couple of RAD5 LUNS to RAID 10. We have not got the Intel® Modular Server Storage Management Pack. However I believe that I can use this for 30 days in evaluation. Are there any limitations with it in evaluation.

Also does anyone know if its possible to re-size a LUN so that it is smaller?

Thanks,

Mark

MYSYS25 switch replacement

Hell, switch in our Intel modular server mysys25 started failing. All servers lost connectivity and we have to pull switch out and put it back in everytime. We ordered new switch, but when we put it in the chasis the foloving error appears: Fault Indication: ESM 2 Fault LED On . We tried to connect to new switch via Serial port, but that doesnt work either. Any suggestions? The firmware on the blade is the latest. I assume the problem is in mismatching firmware, but how to update firmware on the switch if I cant access it? Thanks for your help.

P4000 pedestal server hot-swop drives

hi

Can someone enlighten what is the difference between the models of pedestal server hot-swop drives below?

FUP4X35HSDK

FUP4X35S3HSDK

FUP8X35HSDK

FUP8X25HSDKS

FUP8X25S3HSDK

For a start, I believe the front portion of the model number like FUP4X35 / FUP8X25 would mean the number of hot-swop drive trays and the physical size of the hdd.

But what does the the rest of the letters mean? "S3", "S" at the end of the model, etc. Is there a page that helps to explain?

thank you

raw ipmi command to retrieve NIC 1 MAC address on S2600GZ

$

Hi there,

what is the right approach to retrieve the NIC 1 MAC address (for OS usage) via IPMI?

NOTE: I am assuming the system is powered off and that a DHCP server assigned an IP address to the BMC LAN channel 1.

The S2600GZ technical product specification section 6.10.3.2.3 highlights the convention used to assign MAC address so conceptually one could calculate it from the BMC LAN channel 1 MAC address (by subtracting 4) but that seems brittle so I am looking for the (raw) IPMI command to provide that info directly!?

Other vendors implemented vendor-specific IPMI commands but I can't seem to find the doc that would cover an S2600GZ board..

Thanks & cheerio, Harry.

CentOS 6.6 Intel SRCSAS18E

I have been running an intel mobo with hardware RAID and 6 x 1TB Drives for about four years.  The server stopped booting a few weeks ago and I am trying to resurect it and if possible salvage the data. It was not even showing up in POST cycle as a controller, so I moved it to another board I had around and it shows up, but still not working correctly.    The original system was running CentOS 5.x and controller moved to new system running CENTOS 6.6

Issue:  RAID SRCSAS18E RAID 5 Volume not showing up.  Cannot do "ctrl+G" from POST stage (it pauses for about 45seconds during post).  OS driver installed as well as CLI and web tool but controller does not show up to web tool, and when I issue command to re-flash (likly it would be an upgrade as I don't recall last time I did a firmware flash on it) it does not give me very useful response.

I don't think any of the above messages from kernel are any more then long time out values for drives. That is odd but ??   I can post full kernel message output if needed.....

Installed Intel RAID services / tools:

[root@titan1 RAID]# ls

ir3_1068SASHWR_FW_v1.12.280-0826_pkg-v7.0.1-0075.zip  ir3_Linux_x86_RWC2_v14.05.02.03.tar.gz  Linux_x64_RWC2_v14.08.01-04.tar.gz

ir3_CmdTool2_Linux_v8.07.16.zip                       ir3_UEFI_CmdTool2_v2.03.00.s6.zip       MR_Linux_drv_v6.705.07.00.tgz

[root@titan1 RAID]# cd /usr/local/RAID\ Web\ Console\ 2/

[root@titan1 RAID Web Console 2]# ./start

starthelp.sh         startmonitorhelp.sh  startupui.sh

[root@titan1 RAID Web Console 2]# ./startupui.sh

Messave above is just lack of connection from web UI to ?? agent?  What I am not clear on is what agent or service can I check for to be running such that this UI could connect to?

Attempt to flash firmware to controller:

[root@titan1 tmp]# cp /root/RAID/ir3_1068SASHWR_FW_v1.12.280-0826_pkg-v7.0.1-0075.zip .

[root@titan1 tmp]# unzip ir3_1068SASHWR_FW_v1.12.280-0826_pkg-v7.0.1-0075.zip

Questions:

1) Has anyone any experiance and futher direction on how to debug this further?

2) Does anyone have this RAID controller running CentOS / RHEL 6.6?

3) The inabiltiy to do <ctrl +G> and UEFI is not good. What I do have is a note in my system change control about something like this which noted to get by it by "disabling all other controller BIOS on motherboard" .  I would like to validate if others have this issue, and or work around for this.
