Ram upgrade to S5500BCR board server / sgl processor with 4 x 2mb ram...

Hi   Some advice please on the following. I have inherited the above small server and decided that it badly needed an upgrade to 16gb ram from 8gb. I ran the Crucial ram test to ensure the correct ram and installed the new 4 x 4gb Crucial ram (replacing the existing 4 x 2mb sticks / same slots).

When installed the Windows SBS 2008 My Computer/Properties states 16gb so seems to be seated ok and recognised but the Task Manager still states 8gb and still sluggish ???

The warning ! light came on the server face upon switching on again after the upgrade but ran ok.

Do i need to change a setting in the Bios ... or what ???? (You had better advise me please on how i get into the Bios, if required to).

S5000PSL no longer booting

Hi

 

Please can someone help I have a Server which has been working for about three running a S5000psl board for years with no problems.

 

Recently 2 of the drive no longer being used were removed from the server and it now no longer wants to boot.

 

When we power up the fans spin and the LED flash a couple of different combinations but always finish on the same MSB amber and LSB red status light flashing green.

 

Have tried resetting BIOS to default I have removed all non essential add-on cards have tried with 1 x processor and minimal Ram but know difference.

 

If I completely remove the RAM i get beeps from the board so board seems ok. tested processor in another server they are working and RAM.

Intel S5000XVN Memory issue - board hangs while scaling to 32 gi's of memory

I have the Intel S5000XVN motherboard and have gotten great use out of it for several years as my vmware server.

 

I recently decided to double my memory on this board from 16 gigs of memory to 32 gigs of memory - basically populating every memory slot with identical 4GB fully buffered kingston memory.

 

Matter of fact the additionally 16 gigs of memory cost me 500 bucks and now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have just started over with a new mb.

 

Here is the issue:

 

Once I populate the memory out to 32 gigs the systems boots up and runs for about ten minutes and then it freezes hard.

 

I have the bios logging enabled and I'm getting very odd internal error 8110 on processor #1 and error 8111 on processor #2.

 

And to make matter worse, if I take out two modules to where the mb is only running at 24 gigs of memory I have no issues what so ever.

 

I uploaded the latest bios firmware last year and I can see there is no change in the bios upgrade options.

 

The memory modules are all identical, all Kingston, all buffered and all very expensive.

 

Is the motherboard overheating? Out of ideas here.....I have the mb loaded into a white box server box, not an intel server box and I'm wondering if the issue is thermal. I have two huge expensive heat sinks on the processors and have had no problems with this mb other than adding memory. Of course the kingston memory I'm using has clearly been tested by Intel.

Motherboard is S2600CO with 2 2860 XEON cores and 128GB of memory.  Operating system is Ubuntu Linux 11.10.  6 Intel 530 drives are organized into a RAID0 attached to an Intel MegaRAID, RS25DB080, adapter.  When I use the old FW Package build of 23.9.0-0018, I can get write speeds of nearly 2GB/s. When I upgrade the RS25DB080 to FW Package build 23.29.0-0016, the performance of the 6 drive RAID drops to under 300GB/sec.

 

I get nearly 2GB/s when I use Intel 520 drives, regardless of the FW package downloaded to the MegaRAID.

 

Is there some new configuration of the drives that is necessary to work better with the new MegaRAID firmware?  Do the Intel 530's need to be secure erased and overprovisioned with the new firmware?

 

Attached is the log file from the MegaRAID.  The end of the log indicates that I am getting unexpected sense events.

S1200BTL unlisted Error Code at boot - ran smoothly for 2 years

Hi

My S1200BTL board in an Intel server chassis refuses to start up today.

The error code (with an amber warning LED) is 0xEA (1110 1010), which is not listed.

The boot process will not advance.

Any ideas?

Feature Request: Automated deployment via RMM4

The RMM4 is a very capable service processor, which already can be used for deploying OS images onto a server via a virtual CD-ROM from an .ISO image.

 

However, I would like to raise this feature to the next level by enabling PXE-like automated deployment via the RMM4 as well.

 

What I basically would like is to be able to auto-configure and deploy the server purely from the management network.  PXE requires additional configuration of a production network port, and for high density servers like the H2000 series this is wasteful.

 

Could any of the existing deployment tools be used for this purpose already?

So i can't access to device through web interface or something else. And i can't restore info of disks because they have unknown format.

Hi, I am a video enthousiast and bought a W2600CR workstation for rendering and editing. I am new with server boards. I managed to get the machine up and running. Had a few hickups along the way, but managed to fix all but one. The system fans spin at teir maximum speed and the machine is extremely noisy. I tried to change acoustic settings in the bios and installed the active system console, but so far no luck. The ASC claims under System > Cooling that there are 'No sensors found'  which I think is weird. There are no unknown devices in the device manager. I am running Windows 8.1. How do I throttle the fans? It just makes too much noise now to work on the box. Thanks upfront for any help! :-)

IPMBand SGPIO

Can the IPMB and SGPIO cables be used together? I have an S5520HC motherboard and an RS2BL080 RAID card. I have the IPMB cables on the motherboard going to the backplanes of the hard drive enclosures. The LEDs during hard drive activity flash, but they don't when trying a drive locate. If I hook the IPMB cable to the RAID card insted of the motherboard, the system beeps. I wanted to know if I can safely connect the SGPIO cables from the RAID card to the enclosure backplanes while the IPMB cables were hooked up.

Helllo, THis is my first post on the forum. Please help me with the following issue.

 

I am using Graphics card from my old PC on the new Intel server board S1200V3RPS. First I am able to install OpenSuse 13.1 without inserting Quadro graphic card. Then I insert the graphics card and try to start the system. At the time of startup, I see garbage on the two monitors I have connected to the graphics card. Then the linux system loads and the card appears to be working fine and I am able to install legacy drivers for the card on the linux systtem.

 

However, the issue is that I do not have any access to BIOS screen at the time of startup. Please let me know how can I fix this?

S1200V3RPM / XEON E3 1265L V3 audio over displayport problem

Hi all,

I have an Intel S1200V3RPM server board, XEON E3 1275V3 processor (P4600 graphics), which I use as an audio and video streamer.

The only drivers I have been able to install are the 10.18.10.3316 from windows update. All other drivers from the Intel download center (.3316 and .3345) fail to install.

The problem I experience is that I do not have any audio on the HDMI input of my AV receiver. I connect my board via DisplayPort cable -> HP BB937AA adapter -> HDMI cable-> Onkyo PR-SC5507 AV receiver. My PC cannot see the Onkyo as an audio device. Video gets transferred fine.

 

The HP Displayport - HDMI adapter works fine connecting an HP Elitebook 8570w to the Onkyo, miltichannel HD sound and all.

Thanks for any help, as the video part of my streamer is unusable like this.

S1200V3RPM - NIC not available during boot

Hi all,

I have the following problem with my S1200V3RPM board and Server 2012 R2: Right after boot, jRiver MC20 tries to find its library server on the network. At this time the NIC of the board does not seem to be functional yet. After a few retries, MC20 gives up with an error message. When the NIC does become ready, I need to click the 'retry' button in the error message and MC20 immediatedly connects to the library server.

This would not be issue, but I run this machine headless (it's an audio server), controlled with jremote app on an iPad. Now I have to connect to the PC using remote desktop and click the error message away. This is not convenient at all.

Question: Is there any way to configure the NIC in the BIOS or otherwise so that it becomes functional already during the boot process, so jRiver can find its library server as soon as it is launched?

Two raid controller in active-active or active-passive for common set of HDDs

I am consider the 24-bay server storage systems from Intel. 24 x 600GB SSDs.

 

I am planning to have two raid controllers with all 24 hdd connected to both raid controller with only one controller active at a time. Is it even possible??

 

Examples includes

(a) RocketRAID 2720C2 Cross-Sync RAID Solution where Up to 4 storage controller cards, each with its own dedicated PCIe 2.0 x8 lane can work in unison but probably may not necessarily in A/A or A/P modes

Intel S5520HC Server in boot loop

Hi Folks,

 

Got a S5520HC motherboard, and had server 2003, we formatted it, and now when trying to install either Server 2008 R2 or Server 2012 R2 it just loops when it hits the "Starting Windows"

I have done the following,

Upgraded the bios, reset the bios, removed the cmos battery, changed to use SW RAID, AHCI, Advanced,

then upgraded the bios to the latest I could find,

Changed SATA ports, tried different HDD's

 

It still does nothing more than loop when hits the start screen,

I am able to boot it up with Hirens,

 

PLEASE PLEASE could someone help.

Unknown SAS Controller in Win 2008 for S2600GZ

I have a new Intel R2312GZ4GCSAS server system with the optional RES2SV240 RAID expander card installed.This system comes with the RMS25CB080 hardware RAID module pre-installed.

 

When installing Windows 2008 R2 with SP1, after installing all chipset, NIC, RAID, and related drivers, I am still seeing an unknown device in Windows Device Manager. It is listed as "SAS Controller" See screenshot here http://screencast.com/t/GnyUbkCmu5

 

Anyone know which driver I need to install for this?
