Receiving event log error for PS on S1200RP server

$

When I looked at the server event log in the RMM I saw events for the power supply redundancy. In the sensor readings it shows yellow with a warning and a reading of 0x0001. The event log shows the following entries:

PS1 StatusPower Supplyreports a predictive failure has been detected for the power supply - Deasserted

PS2 StatusPower Supplyreports a predictive failure has been detected for the power supply - Deasserted

Pwr Unit RedundPower Unitreports redundancy has been lost, but the unit is still functioning with the minimum amount of resources needed for normal operation - Asserted

Pwr Unit RedundPower Unitreports redundancy has been lost - Asserted

Is this something I need to be concerned with? I have not seen any other indications of failure. Are one or both of the Power Supplies beginning to fail?

Thanks,

Mike

Invalid Dimm population @ Intel S2600CP Server Board

Hi, good day. I'm new to building server system.

Currently I'm installing a server by using the below parts:

- Intel S2600CP Server Board, (MM: 916040; Batch: CNQS44E5K1; Version: G41269-505)
- 2 x Intel XEON E5-2620V2 processors
- 8 x Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 ECC KVR16LN11/8

However, I keep getting the error message when system boot up -- Invalid dimm population.

I try to install 4units of ram at slot A1, A2 & E1, E2; or even just A1 and E1 also fail to boot up. Can anyone help to resolve this issue?

Intel updates in the form of catalog to use with WSUS

I would like to know if Intel provides the product updates in the form of catalog to use with WSUS and distribute the updates. Like the one provided by DELL, IBM and HP for their product security updates.

S2400SC hangs at copyright screen

I have a new P4000M series chassis, with an S2400SC board.  At first, it wouldn't boot at all and gave no indication why.  I determined that the BIOS needed to be updated to support the E5-2407 V2 processors.  I was able to find a pair of earlier processors, and successfully update the BIOS, BMC etc. via EFI.  Now the server boots to the copyright screen, and hangs there with a flashing cursor in the lower left of the screen.  I have tried BIOS & BMC recovery, CMOS clear, old and new processors - still not working.  Diagnostic LEDs stop at ABh (DXE Setup Start).  Any ideas?

Thank you,

Greg

Intel® Server Board S5500WB 12V

Hi,

Recently I picked up a used board Intel® Server Board S5500WB, little did I knew this board as 12V version. I thought its going to be another board with standard power connector, I could use a high power ATX PSU to supply it.

Now how can I power up the motherboard ? I have a PSU which has dual 12V output. Is that all needed to start the board ?

http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/9269/cx120s1-d3052-intel-tps-en.pdf

I wanted this system with dual xenon and 16GB RAM for video encoding.

Thank you for your help.

Intel s1200v3 comparison

Greetings Everyone, my first post here and probably many more in the future

I'am in the process of building a computer for audio purpose only. I have been searching for days, probably a month but unable to find definite answers, I want to be 100% sure if I'am buying the correct compatible hardware.

I believe some of you might be kind enough (if i may add, highly skilled experts with immense knowledge of computers) to help me out with this dilemma & queries which bog my mind.

Mobo Intel S1200V3 motherboard

Intel Haswell Xeon E3-1230L v3 CPU

the ram would be 2x2GB Apacer ECC DDR3-1066 RAM, CL7, unbuffered, industrial series (extended temp range from -45 to +85

'am confused about the MOBO, there are 4 versions in the intel s1200v3 family, RPL, RPO, RPM, RPS. Please note this will be a dedicated PC for playing audio only.

I have been asked to choose the one with minimum features, which one would that be?

thank you in advance and best regards,

Ben

p.s. OS would be windows server 2012 r2.

Intel Modular Server Battery Failure

$

We are getting repeated battery warning messages from an Intel Modular Server (see below).  We are looking for a replacement battery that we can afford (I'm told Intel no longer supports this platform.)  My question is, 1) What will happen if the battery fails or malfunctions before we can substitute a working battery? 2) What is a compatible substitute for this part?

Thank you.

Raid controller rs3wc080 won't start

$

I Purchased a rs3wc080 to be able to ad a lot of sas disks to my pc. It is a regular machine with Asus P9x79 mobo and i7 cpu running win7 pro x64.

The card worked out of the box, but during copy jobs of some size (30+ minutes) it would cause BSOD. After a while it would also occationally fail to start with windows, with error code 10 "this device cannot start".

I have flashed the card and the mobo with the latest firmware and updated win drivers but the problem was just getting worse. I've also removed the card, tried it with no disks attached, down stepped the pcie slot to gen 1 and 2. Downgraded firmware. Upgraded again. Using both console and efi. All with success, but without solving the problem. Currently the virtual disks are presented to the mobo bios, and all is fine in the raid controller bios. But in windows the disks don't show, and in device manager the card shows up with error 10 cannot start.

I even tested the card in my old pc, which has the older x48 chipset, and all worked fine even under hard load with robocopy. Since it worked in my old machine, which is running win7, I figured maybe my os installation was to blame. So I reinstalled windows, downloaded the latest driver for the card from Intel, and... Error 10...!!!!

Any suggestions? I was thinkng of returning the card as faulty, but since it works fine in my other pcs (I've tried three now with success) I guess it actually works. Just not in the machine I need to use...

I have a JBOD2312S2SP Intel Raid Enclosure (Intel® Storage Systems JBOD Family) at my house and woke up to screaming fan noises.  Warning light was blinking and the console showed this:

Last message until 6 minutes later I powered up a computer to remove in and shutdown the system.  Pulled the power plug, put it back in, powered everything up, and it's running right now without issue.  Thoughts?

Edit:  As a side note, the Intel Raid Web Console shows this drive cage with 2 power supplies.  Always did.  I only have one.  So not sure if that's just how many it can hold or if it's just not intelligent enough to detect the number of drives.

Thanks.

Move RAID to new Dell XPS

$

I have a Dell XPS 8300 with Intel RAID, and have configured two RAID 1 volumes: 1 for System and 1 for Data, each volume using 2 2T drives. Windows 7 is installed and running. I just bought a Dell XPS 8700 -- faster CPU speed, more RAM, and it also includes Intel RAID. I want to move the disks onto the new machine and retain the RAID configuration and the contents. I have a backup, but I think it will be much less work if I can just put the existing configured RAID volumes into the new system without having to re-format the disks and reinstall and restore the backup.

Everything I have read suggests that this is not possible -- plugging ANY disk into the machine and setting up RAID will wipe out the disk contents.

I can't be the first person in the history of computing who wants to do this kind of upgrade. I expect that, since both systems are Dell and both use the same Intel RAID that there SHOULD be a way to put the disks into service and get the RAID operating without reformatting, rebuilding the RAID and restoring from the backup.

Is there a way to do this? Or am I going to have to take the long route and restore from a backup?

Anyone at Intel with the intel?

RS2BL drivers and RST support?

Hi,

I have an RS2BL080 (e or d? spec... the one that supports encryption key management) which has an LSI SAS2108* RAID-on-Chip setup.

Are TRIM and\or RST features which these cards already support (and I've just missed it)?

OR will Intel update the drives and software for these cards\chips?

I purchased a 730 series SSD a few weeks ago after seeing the marketing touting superior RAID-0 speeds, with the plan of getting a second in about month when I can' afford it.... unfortunately I didn't look close enough to realize my card wont support RST and I don't think it even has support for TRIM?

I'm just trying to decide what my options are going forward.

Ultimately I'd like to raid 2 (maybe 3 if I can afford it later) 730s with my current RAID card, get the speed, etc. and be done\happy with it!

At this stage if TRIM will be supported, I will probably just swallow the premium cost and grab a second 730 - I would be ok with this.

If not, then I have made a mistake getting the 730 because:

A) I need a larger drive

B) Could have chosen a cheaper drive without the premium the 730s have

C) I can't afford a new RAID Controller of the same quality (it was around $900 originally including BBU)

And I'd probably sell and go with something else, which would be a shame.

Intel Server Board S5520SC will not see PCI-e video card

Intel Server Board S5520SC will not see PCI-e video card. It did prior to resetting the BIOS. System will not post with a QuadroFX 5600. Tried another video card and nada, no post. If I put in a really cheap PCI-e video card, it will post.

A few years back told me the BIOS workaround to turn off something? one of the two LAN ports?

I forgot their workaround answer. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys,

I made a mistake and cleared all my configurations on my RAID controller, is it possible to recover the configurations (RAID Groups) and the data that was on them?

Cheers,

Inconsistent RAID5

Good day.

We have a small RAID5 on an Intel(R) RAID Controller SRCSAS18E comprised of 4 Seagate Cheetah ST3600057SS drives.  The array seems to be functioning fine, however the command:

#  storcli /c0 /v1 show all

results in part:

----

/c0/v1 :

======

---------------------------------------------------------

DG/VD TYPE    State Access Consist   Cache  sCC     Size Name

---------------------------------------------------------

1/1       RAID5   Optl    RW      No         RWTC  -      1.633 TB

---------------------------------------------------------

Cac=CacheCade|Rec=Recovery|OfLn=OffLine|Pdgd=Partially Degraded|dgrd=Degraded

Optl=Optimal|RO=Read Only|RW=Read Write|B=Blocked|Consist=Consistent|

R=Read Ahead Always|NR=No Read Ahead|WB=WriteBack|

AWB=Always WriteBack|WT=WriteThrough|C=Cached IO|D=Direct IO|sCC=Scheduled

Check Consistency

----

From Google I understand that a lack of consistency means problems with parity.  What I have not been able to figure out, and what I am looking for here is what can I do about it?

Thanks,
