RWC2/Windows cannot find local server

Hello,

 

I'm having trouble using RWC2, it cannot find standalone local server.

 

I've tried RWC2 on:

Windows 2008 R2/SP1 with ESRT2 raid1 or MatrixRAID1

Windows 2012 R2 with ESRT2 raid1 or MatrixRAID1

* using S3420GP

* Installed "complete" package without any install error.

* tried to search server itself by its assigned IP address and 127.0.0.1

* All of Windows firewall disabled.

 

Since this software does not have much configuration of kind,

I wonder where to look at.

 

any help would be appreciated !

Regarding power led of R1208GZ4GC

Hi all,

 

This is a picture of Intel appliances R1208GZ4GC.

All of power LEDs are solid on green. But it seems that each green colors are delicately differ.
Actually, they are working fine now. I think this is an individual difference and not indicate hardware problem.
Am I correct?

Noise level of FXX1600PCRPS in server P4304CR2LFKN?

I can't seem to find any specifications for the loudness of the fans in the P4304CR2LFKN. 

 

I'm looking to build a workstation that I would keep under my desk.  It would hold a tesla k20 and two e5-2695's for scientific computing (number crunching). 

 

It would need to be located in the office with me and noise is obviously a non-starter as we shop for options.

 

I like the W2600CR2 but searching high and low and I cannot find any noise specs for the air fans in P4304CR2LFKN or FXX1600PCRPS. 

 

Could someone please help?

I need RSTe GUI for Server 2012 R2

I have just installed Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard on a new SuperMicro server running an X10SAE MB.  It has a Intel C226 Chipset.

 

It seems that Server 2012 R2 has come with a newer version of drivers for the RAID/AHCI as every time I try to install the IATA_CD download from either SuperMicro or Intel, it give me a message that says:

 

"The computer currently contains driver versions newer than the versions you are about to install. Are you sure...."

 

I have tried a couple times to install anyway as I want to get the GUI up and running so I can use it's features etc.  However each time seems to result in the system becoming highly unstable.

 

Any advice that can be offered would be great.  Thanks

Problemas con Intel Server Board S5000SASASR

Hola:

 

Tengo el siguiente problema con mi board S5000SASASR el cual al encenderlo no iniciaba, se quedaba encendido el led de power y de ahi no pasaba no daba imagen ni nada. Revisando la placa encontré que en el socket 1 del CPU tiene un pin roto, lo cual me hizo cambiar mi procesador Xeon al socket 2 del CPU generandome 9 beeps en total y el LED de STATUS en amarillo fijo. La pregunta es la siguiente ¿ Puedo yo usar el socket 1 o 2 indistintamente ? es decir puedo ponerlo en cualquiera de los dos sockets y funcionaría? de ser así ¿ existe alguna configuración de los jumpers en la placa para que esto funcione ?

 

Muchas gracias de antemano espero puedan auxiliarme con este problema.

s5000VSA can't boot with 2 processors

- No video signal at all;

- CPU fan 2 doesn't spin, except if i plug on a chassis fan header;

- Both processros and fans work when a single processor is installed;

- PSU is 650 Watts with one P4 and the other P4 is adapted from an ordinary plug.

 

Tried all tips from board's site but nothing. Anyone with similar experience?

Get S3420GP Server Board full SKU

Hi

 

I have 3 servers based on this board which are in production.

I wish to install RMM3 in them, however I have read that RMM3 will only run on the S3420GPLX SKU of the board.

I do not have the original packaging or invoices for the servers.

 

How do i determine which SKU of the S3420GP boards i currently have installed in my servers so that I can purchase the RMM3 modules?

May any clarify one question ?

 

Why the Intel continues to maintain a separate ipmi port, and does not do all ports combined with ipmi and gigabit Ethernet? ipmi over Ian has an some limitations?

W2600CR - Recovery bios on a new Intel workstation board without processors? with future processors?

Hi All,

 

   I have purchased a W2600CR intel workstation board (in P4304CR2LFJN, EOL), which is first batch from launch, 2012/1Q.

 

I prepared two Xeon E5-2640v2 processors, but unfortunately the system can't boot since it only supports Xeon E5-2600v1 processors.

 

The article W2600CR and E5 2680v2 installing problems  suggests to update BIOS to latest version to get v2 processors supported. But booting to efi require v1 processors - an egg-and-chicken dilemma.

 

I turn to bios recovery but in the recovery procedures I didn't get information if it can apply under following two cases.

 

case1: without any processor populated.

case2: with two E5-2640v2 processors populated.

 

And if it should be successful to recover BIOS to latest version in any one of above cases, can it boot to efi well with other old version firmware untouched, such as BMC, FRUSDR, and ME?

Problem: The server will not boot after power loss. Lit red LED warning. If you pull the power cord and insert it again, press the power button then load passes. Tell me how to avoid it to the server when power is loaded rather than stay with a warning. In the BIOS set is on when power is lost.

 

In System Events: Pwr Unit Status reports the power unit has suffered a failure.

S5000VSA Upgrade

Hi All,

 

we want to upgrade our Server with S5000VSA-Board for Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials.

At the Moment we run Server 2003 R2, 2x Xeon 5140, and 4GB RAM.

In the different Shops they offer a lot of RAM-kits up to 32GB total.

A look in to the board-specifications says maximum RAM is limited to 16GB.

 

Which processor/RAM/BIOS combination offers the max. possible performance with this board?

Or better, which combination makes sence for our plans?

Noisy? 1600W Common Redundant Power Supply FXX1600PCRPS

Hello,

 

I am planning a build, but the configured chassis comes with an Intel 1600 watt power supply[see title]. Since the board is custom, this is the only power supply and chassis available. If I am wrong and you know of another one, please let me know.

 

I have been told by a custom computer builder that this particular power supply will be very loud. Note, I will not be utilizing all 1600 watts, and initially, about 700 watts, but I will be leaving this particular workstation to my alma mater when I die and they might utilize the entire 1600 watts.

 

Intel support told me that the PWM Offset can be set to 0 in the bios and that will significantly reduce the noise from the power supply.

 

Remember, this is the ONLY chassis system available for this particular board. Sadly, the particular Intel workstation chassis only comes with a 1600 Watt power supply.

 

Anyhow, the builder kind of made it seem that the PSU will be uncomfortably loud in my living room. The Intel person said it would not likely be loud with that adjustment and the fact that I would not be operating at full load.

 

I have no experience with such a power supply. Will it be loud?

Issues with S1200BTS when installing external video card

Hi, I'm trying to install ESXi on this system and I'm stuck with this issue "Multiboot could not setup video subsystem" Someone told me to install external video card with DVI. I tried with PowerColor 7850 and I couldn't get it work. It doesn't detect at all. I think it's too powerfull or something else. I will try with ATI 4890 which got VGA also.

 

 

EDIT

I've worked it out. You have to reset the BIOS using pins for clearing CMOS.

Can't get ESXI 5.5 working on S1200BTS

I've got this motherboard and I'm trying to get it working with ESXI 5.5. So far I've tested couple images with custom drivers for the LSI 9240-4i controller, but none of them have worked. In some youtube video it's said that I've got to change some option to EFI compatible ROM, but excuse me I can't find it NOWHERE! Absolutely nowhere! Please help me, please.

     I am trying to install windows server 2003 standered edition on server system with intel board S1200v3rp and 8GB RAM,its showing error  while installation "system BIOS is not ACPI complient please update BIOS or contact vendor".Although latest version of BIOS is installed.Please also clarify whether server 2003 standard edition can be installed on on this board.@

RS2WC080 problems - disconnects when computer sleeps, poor performance

I've got a RS2WC080 connected to 8 4TB SATA III WD Black drives, on an Asus Z9PE-D8 motherboard. It's set up as RAID 5 with all the disks in a single volume.

 

The problems I'm having are twofold: first, it disconnects whenever the OS sleeps. Meaning that when it wakes up the virtual drive has unmounted and Windows can't find D: drive any more. This machine is being used as a workstation, and I'm not keen on having it running all the time without sleeping.

 

The second is that the write performance is really bad. Like 45Mb/s, when the read speed is in the mid 700s. I followed the performance guide here: Server Products — Configuring Intel® RAID Controllers for optimal performance or tried to, because a lot of the options - like setting write cache policy to 'Write Ahead' and read ahead policy to 'Adaptive Read Ahead' - don't seem to be possible, either in the RAID BIOS utility or in the Web Console.

 

Any pointers on what I might be doing wrong?

 

Other specs: 2 x Intel E5-2690 x 10 cores @ 3GHz, 64Gb RAM, Windows 7 64-bit.
