S2600CP - Power Source Fan runs too fast and loud after BIOS Update to R02.06.E0006-rev2.

Before I had the same problem with motherboard which reported Platform ID as S2600SDP

Intel has replaced motherboard to me by standard warranty as wrong motherboard

New board has correct identification. And Power Supply FAN was working quietly.

Support person recommended me to upgrade BIOS on new received board and the story has repeated.
Power Supply fan rotates at max speed.

It is not PS Fan fault. It is some other fault.

As I know already, the loud PS Fan is made for signalling of critical system faults.Customer support by phone replies too slow.

So I decided to ask here.

Please, help me identify the fault source. ( taking into account that fault raised right after BIOS UPGRADE )

I attach sysinfo logfiles here

Thank you.

S2600GL CATERR Debugging

An S2600GL motherboard  in my possession died. I'm at a loss as to what went wrong. I understand that the support period is probably expired, not sure about my support options but i figured i'd reach out.

It appears none of the major rails have any issues, but I just get no CPU vcore (it's not shorted, i checked  =P), rest of the rails come up for about 0.6-0.9 seconds, it blips the CATERR LED twice, power cycles, then does it again.

Not sure how to continue without reversing the board and reading the C602 and relevant CPU datasheet. I thought it might be fun trying to go further, I figured it might be worthwhile gaining familiarity on a hardware/electrical level with intel server boards.

I enjoyed the level of documentation in the technical product specification, not sure whether there's any further board level information available. I'm curious as to why J4E2 is populated on both boards i have but does not appear to be mentioned anywhere?

I've used another board and verified the RAM, CPU's and PSU's are fine. BMC boots on the faulty board if that helps.

At a glance it appears the S2600WFQ, S2600WFT, S2600WF0 and S2600WT have the same/similar mechanical specifications? I'd like to confirm that's an upgrade path if boards keep dying?

Cheers.

Constantly, approximately every 5 minutes in the vmware sphere there is a message about the temperature on the DIMM.

Hi Support,

We are using intel server board S2600WT with the BMC configuration.

In the BMC setup we can see that there is possibility to send some SNMP traps to external server.

Can we install any SNMP manager and receive those traps properly ? Do you have any MIB database for the OID's that can be send from BMC ?

Updating BIOS of S1200SPLR - numbers don't match release notes

Just got a S1200SPLR board to build a server for a client. CPU is a E3-1240V6. Chassis is an older P4304XXSFCN.

Board specs:

PC:DBS1200SPLR

Version#:H77895-272

MM#:951869

BATCH#:CNQS88B0C0

PBA#:H57532-271

PACK Date: 11 AUG 18

Server boots and I press F2 and get the Setup Page. On that page I see:

IFWI Version: S1200SP.86B.BR.64.2018.16.5.01.1114.SELFBOOT

BIOS Version: S1200SP.86B.03.01.4029.041320180314.FACTORY

If I go into the Main subsection I see for both Primary and Backup:

Version: S1200SP.86B.03.01.4029

Date: 04/13/2018

On the Intel Support web site for the Downloads and Drivers for the S1200SPLR board it lists the latest BIOS as 03.01.0038.

According to the Release Notes for version 03.01.0038 dated June 26, 2018, before you update to 03.01.0038 you have to install bridge BIOS 03.01.2032. Though no where in the release notes is there a mention of the BIOS version, 03.01.4029, that I have on this motherboard.

Since this board was packed in August, which is later that June, do I need to update the BIOS or do I have something new or what?

I need to do something as the fan runs at full speed right now so I figure something needs to be done.

I installed ASC on a new server and realized I had installed an old version. I installed the new version over the old one and opened up the webpage. Everything looks the same and when I go to help/about within the webapp I see the old version info. I tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried rebooting. Is there something getting stuck?

Hello!

We have another server with this strange issue.

Server started to give RAID card overheating errors. But in reality it is not true.

We changed RAID card to a new one - still the same problem.

Motherboard is S2600CW2.

RAID controller logs attached. and RAID controller FW is the latest available.

How to fix it?

P.S::

We had familiar problem with S2600WT board and problem started in the same way but then another problem appeared with battery controller.

RS3DC040 RAID controller started to beep with battery module

Intel RAID (RMS3CC080), how to "Online RAID Expansion", cant find it in BIOS or RWC3

Hi

We have a S1200SPOR with RMS3CC080, the below document on page 6 (real PDF page 16) says this controller (and all others that are 12Gb) will:

"Online capacity expansion to add space to an existing drive or a new drive"

"Online RAID level migration"

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/raid-products/12G_RAID_Controllers_UG.pdf

Ive completed both of the above before with PROMISE controllers and LSI / AVAGO, however i can find anyway in the BIOS or with RWC3 (RAID Web Console 3) to do this, when i select the Virtual Drive there are no options to expand or change the RAID level.

So how is this done?

how to reset FRU/SDR firmware back to factory default

$

I have a s2600cwt mother board. I download the latest bios, bmc and FRU/SDR firmware package, extract them to root directory of my usb disk. boot from there, and the update process started sucessfully. The bios, bmc part finished successfully, when it goes to fru/sdr part, I select option 3, update both fru and sdr.

Since I'm using a third party chassis, so I select not update the chassis part in FRU update, when it goes to sdr, it finally reported, sdr auto update failed, do you want to go back to legacy mode. So I chose the y, and answered the questions.

other chassis, sys fan 1, 2 connect, 3,4,5,6 not, cpu fan 1 connect, 2 not. rear fan connect. And finished successfully.

then I powered off the machine, powered back on. then I got an warning msg, says, cpu fan 1's speed is 0rpm. which I found the fan is actually running pretty well.

My question is how can I fix this problem or flash the fru/sdr back to factory default.

I've tried, bios default jump way resetting the bios, no luck.

please help to fix.

thanks,

Nathan

If Intel® Xeon® Processor Scalable Family support PCIe AtomicOps host-to-device transactions?

$

PCIe spec defined 3 types of AtomicOps transactions:

"AtomicOps are architected for device-to-host, device-to-device, and host-to-device transactions."

If Intel® Xeon® Processor Scalable Family support Pcie AtomicOps host-to-device transactions? The background for this question is it looks in previous Xeon generation, only PCIe AtomicOps device-to-host transactions are supported: "The Intel Xeon processor E7 V2 family supports PCIe atomic operations (as a completer)". Not sure if Scalable family extend the support to host-to-device using X86 ISA based instructions?

Maybe too short auto learn period for AXXRMFBU7

$

Hello!

I've got Intel RSP3TD160F RAID Controller with AXXRMFBU7 MFBU. Raid Web Console 3 (and storcli) shows that auto learn is "transparent" with period = 1 DAY.

We have previous generation Intel RAID controller RS25AB080 with SuperCap2 module - it has auto learn period = 28 days which is on par with accumulator based BBUs.

Is 1-DAY auto learn period of AXXRMFBU7 normal? Is it so frequent by design or due to a firmware bug?
