Maybe too short auto learn period for AXXRMFBU7

$

Hello!

I've got Intel RSP3TD160F RAID Controller with AXXRMFBU7 MFBU. Raid Web Console 3 (and storcli) shows that auto learn is "transparent" with period = 1 DAY.

We have previous generation Intel RAID controller RS25AB080 with SuperCap2 module - it has auto learn period = 28 days which is on par with accumulator based BBUs.

Is 1-DAY auto learn period of AXXRMFBU7 normal? Is it so frequent by design or due to a firmware bug?

Hi Intel Support,

We're assemblying 3 servers, 1st and 2nd server has no problem on the assembly and now we're having issues on my third assembly of Intel Server System, to give you details of the Server system, please see below.

3 out of 16 RAM are having issue not usual issue or behaviours.

1st and 2nd RAM with issue installed on DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 slot was appearing "Installed&Failed", the RAM is causing the memory module next to them to fail which is installed DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2.

We tried to replace the RAM installed to DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 it with good RAM and no problem encountered.

Other issue to third RAM, We have installed RAM to DIMM_C1, DIMM_C2, DIMM_D1, DIMM_D2.

When the 3rd RAM with issue was installed to DIMM_C1 is was appearing "Not Installed" and all other RAM installed to DIMM_C2, DIMM_D1, DIMM_D2  will appearing "Not Intstalled" too.

We tried to replace the 3rd RAM installed to DIMM_C1 and all the RAM installed to DIMM_C2, DIMM_D1, DIMM_D2 will all be "Installed&Operational.

Have your team, encountered this king of issue with Kingston? Please advice us and I need your opinion what is causing this king of issues?

Thanks in advance.

Server 2016 Won't boot from RAID Volume After Motherboard replaced

I have a new server with the Intel S1200SPS server mainboard.  I installed Server 2016 on a RAID 1 virtual disk, which was setup in the RAID BIOS (ESRT II) with dual Samsung EVO 250GB SSD's.  The RAID was also configured with an additional RAID 1 virtual drive of 2 2-TB WD Gold drives for data storage.

It was working fine until I shipped it out to my client.  The mainboard was damaged in shipping, (would not power up to POST) so I replaced it with the same exact model,   I checked all other components using hardware diagnostics, including Samsung SSD diagnostics and WD Lifeguard to be sure nothing else was damaged (being sure not to affect data on the drives).  The diagnostics was performed on a separate system, and I could read the drives individually, that the OS and files are there.

After re-assembling the system, I reconfigured the BIOS to use RAID for SATA, and because it's a new mainboard, re-setup the RAID 1 virtual drives, and setting the SSD RAID pair as bootable in the ESRT II BIOS.  I did a consistency check on both RAID virtual drives, which went well, fixing inconsistencies.  I then set the BIOS to boot from the RAID Array.  At this point, I figured it would boot up as originally.  However, windows doesn't recognize the RAID drives, and so won't boot up.  When I got into recovery mode command prompt, the virtual drives are not available at all (not listed in the wmic logicaldisk list).

I'm hoping you Intel guys have done this type of thing before and have a trick up your sleeve to help me get Server 2016 to boot again and not have to lose the hours of time spent installing and configuring Server and other software.  Any ideas?

I am using Intel serverboard S1200V3RPS. This board has 4 memory slots viz. Channel A having A1 and A2 slots and Channel B having B1 and B2 slots. My system is working fine when I insert ram sticks in B1&B2 slots or only B1 slot. But if I put ram stick in A1 or A2 slots, then POST error lights give out code 1110 1000 - No usable memory installed. Anytime a memory stick is placed in A1 or A2 slots (irrespective of whether B1 and B2 are populated or empty), I get no usable memory error.

I have reset BIOS, plugged out all power connectors and connected them again, reseated CPU in cpu socket, disconnected harddrives and dvdrom but problem is still the same. I am using this board for past 2 and a half years and suddenly yesterday system refused to boot up.

Please let me know what other steps I should try before turning it over to intel dealer for warranty.

PCIe spec defined 3 types of AtomicOps transactions:

"AtomicOps are architected for device-to-host, device-to-device, and host-to-device transactions."

If Intel® Xeon® Processor Scalable Family support Pcie AtomicOps host-to-device transactions? The background for this question is it looks in previous Xeon generation, only PCIe AtomicOps device-to-host transactions are supported: "The Intel Xeon processor E7 V2 family supports PCIe atomic operations (as a completer)". Not sure if Scalable family extend the support to host-to-device using X86 ISA based instructions?

RS3DC040 RAID controller started to beep with battery module

Dear support,

We have one server S2600WT and this RS3DC040 RAID controller with battery.

All worked fine over a year, but at some day it started to give an overheating error.

But temperatures are Ok and it is 16C degrees in server room.

We upgraded all firmwares, that were possible to upgrade - that helped for few days.

Then we changed a RAID controller to a brand new one - didn't help.

When we unplugged battery - didn't help

We unplugged battery controller from RAID card - that helped and server stopped beepeing.

We changed this battery module to a new one - didn't help.

There is no errors in RAID console, but just beeping.

How can we solve this issue?

regards,

Sergei.

We have custom build server with Intel Server Board S2600STB + two CPUs SILVER 4110 + 6 modules SERVER MEMORY 16GB PC19200/REG KVR24R17S4/16 KINGSTON.

The problem we have is very strange. Server booting to BIOS screen after F2 takes about 1 minute. Every BIOS menu open takes 5 seconds, load default settings and save settings takes 20 seconds. Also, we have a Adaptec RAID kontroller installed. Adaptec RAID configuration also runs very slow and freezing, you can see how every screen have been drawing Debian installation till progress 20% on SSD M.2 takes 2 hours, also Windows installation till 30% takes about 4 hours. So, all system is running extremely slow, you can see how every BIOS screen have been drawing on monitor, like you have 0.00005 CPU cores. Server is brand new with all new components.

BIOS are on latest 14 version.

how to reset FRU/SDR firmware back to factory default

$

I have a s2600cwt mother board. I download the latest bios, bmc and FRU/SDR firmware package, extract them to root directory of my usb disk. boot from there, and the update process started sucessfully. The bios, bmc part finished successfully, when it goes to fru/sdr part, I select option 3, update both fru and sdr.

Since I'm using a third party chassis, so I select not update the chassis part in FRU update, when it goes to sdr, it finally reported, sdr auto update failed, do you want to go back to legacy mode. So I chose the y, and answered the questions.

other chassis, sys fan 1, 2 connect, 3,4,5,6 not, cpu fan 1 connect, 2 not. rear fan connect. And finished successfully.

then I powered off the machine, powered back on. then I got an warning msg, says, cpu fan 1's speed is 0rpm. which I found the fan is actually running pretty well.

My question is how can I fix this problem or flash the fru/sdr back to factory default.

I've tried, bios default jump way resetting the bios, no luck.

please help to fix.

thanks,

Nathan

Help with RS3WC08 RAID Controller

We just purchased and installed an Intel RS3WC08 Raid controller. We are using 8tb SAS drives with Mini SAS HD to 29pin SFF-8482 with SAS 1pin Power Port 12gb/s fan out cable to attach the drives to the controller.  When booting up and going into the RAID controllers bios we are unable to see the drives being detected. Also, when checking to see if the drives are even being powered we are unable to hear them spin up. We are attaching the power cable from the power supply to the back of the Mini SAS adapter cables as normal. We have tested a standard sata drive using the same power cable from the PSU and it spins up fine. Please help. Thank you so much. –Frank
