JBOD2312S2SP Power Supply Issue?

$

I have a JBOD2312S2SP Intel Raid Enclosure (Intel® Storage Systems JBOD Family) at my house and woke up to screaming fan noises.  Warning light was blinking and the console showed this:

LOCALIZED MESSAGE = Controller ID:  0   Power supply cable removed on enclosure:   1      Power Supply   1

Note I only have one power supply so if the cable was removed not sure how it was still running.  Right after that warning received the below messages copied from the logs so the top one is the latest:

Last message until 6 minutes later I powered up a computer to remove in and shutdown the system.  Pulled the power plug, put it back in, powered everything up, and it's running right now without issue.  Thoughts?

Edit:  As a side note, the Intel Raid Web Console shows this drive cage with 2 power supplies.  Always did.  I only have one.  So not sure if that's just how many it can hold or if it's just not intelligent enough to detect the number of drives.

Thanks.

CPU cooling suggestions for X5355 on S5000PSL

$

I have a S5000PSL that had X5148's with big heat sinks and no fans.   The previous owner just jammed a fan on top of the fins of the heat sink.  I bought a pair of X5355 and now I'm really in need of better cooling.  There are still plenty of LGA775 coolers for sale but I can't tell if they'll be enough for this CPU, nor can I tell if I'll be able to mount two of them side-by-side as the CPU's sit fairly close to each other.

It looks like there was some kind of duct but the prior owner snapped off part of the plastic connectors and I'm not sure how to mount it or if it's even possible to use it.

Any suggestions?

Hi. I have a S1200BTL server motherboard  PBA E98681-304. I installed an E3-1240(v1) Xeon processor. I installed Kingston KVR13E9/8i(x4) memory. When I start the server, I get one long beep and the server starts to boot for about 25 seconds, shuts down and reboots over and over with no video. From all of the info I can find, this configuartion should work. PLEASE HELP!!!. Thanks.

we have a problem on installing Intel® Active System Console on a S5000vsa (platform product id SC5299brp)

The S5000VSA is discontinued.

We got the latest supported version ASC 4.4. the installation goes to about 80% and then stays stuck (left for over 1 day)

the on site tech said that if cancel is pressed the installation does not terminate until a proccess escript.exe(Intel\ASC\erlang\bin\)

is closed manually.

The OS is Windows server 2003 R2 (with all recent updates)

currently im waiting for a System Information Retrieval to get some more info from the system.

Also gonna try if the original cd's are on site to test the server provided version if installs without problem

(i saw that the cd version does some pre-installation checks)

RS25SB008 and CacheCade questions

$

I'm looking at picking up an Intel RS25SB008 (a.k.a. OEM LSI 9286CV-8e). I am wanting to add CacheCade to it, which I see is done via the AXXRPFKSSD2 feature key. My question's are:

  • Will the resulting version be CacheCade Pro 2.0? I don't know that there ever was a CacheCade 1.0 version available on this board, but I want to make sure that's not what I'm getting.
  • These has been quite a bit of chatter about a newer version of CacheCade coming (some suspecting 2.1 or 3.0) that, most significant to me, would raid the size of the CacheCade virtual drive to something larger the current limit of 512GB (1 or 2TB in the rumor mill). Given that I have nothing solid to work from here, I am not asking for "commitments" but would welcome well-educated guesses as to whether or not Intel will have a new key once this is available?
  • The above wouldn't matter if you could use the LSI branded CacheCade key with this board, but given my recent experience with an IBM OEM of the LSI 9260-8i (IBM M5014), I am betting it's going to be something unique and not cross-compatible.
  • While I realize the implications of doing so (voiding warranty, etc...) does any one have an experience with the RS25SB008 and trying to cross flash it to LSI firmwares?
  • Last, and this confuses me the most... if you look at the specs on this card in various places, you will see it listed at PCI-e 3.0 and PCI-e 2.0. This intel page refers to it both ways on the same page! (Intel® RAID Controller RS25SB008) Very confusing...

Thank you in advance for any answers!

Hi,

this year we've sold throw NEC, a FlexPower based on Intel Modular Server v2.

It seems that Intel will stop producing Modular Server which are great chassis and nothing will replace them ?

Why ? Is this the new vision of Intel ?

Does S1200BTS support Sandy Bridge Pentiums AND ECC RAM?

$

I am planning to build up a SOHO server with a S1200BTS(R) mobo. As i don´t need much processing power a pentium CPU would be enough for me.

In the CPU compatibility list there are listed among others G840, G850 and G620. But afaik these CPUs do not include support for ECC RAM.

On the other hand the board manual mentions ECC RAM as stringently required.

How can one operate above mentioned processors in this board with the ECC-RAM without having ECC-support in the built-in memory-controller?

Intel Server System R2312GL4GS JBOD?

Hi,

I'm looking into building a few storage servers, hopefully using Linux mdadm. I've been eyeing the Intel R2312GL4GS because of its physical disk carrying size. In the description it has varying RAID levels, but does not mention JBOD. Does that mean if I purchase this server im forced to use the build in RAID? Can I put the disks in some kind of JBOD setup?

Thanks

Installed latest BIOS, FRU, SDR & so on. Tried to change in BIOS - acousting section - no changes. Looked in sysinfo utility's log file - many strings about redundancy fan failure. But I have in this case only permanent fans with 4 wires instead of 6pinout. A part of log here:

SE7501HG2. Can it run the E5-1607 v2 Xeon?

My board is nearly 10 years old.  In the Intel pages,  there is one which lists Server Products, and for the SE7501HG2 there is a list of "Supported processors".

Intel Server Board SE7501HG2 — Supported processors

To my big surprise I find brand-new Xeons in that list, e.g. under 3.00 GHz the E5-1607 v2.

Q.: is it really possible to upgrade that old board to a brand new Xeon?

Should the answer be yes, that would really please me.

Manager servers from Win7-64?

Hello,

I'm trying to get remote management working on an older SE7520BD2V server board with the Advanced Edition IMM module installed.

The IMM is configured and working properly as I can go to the configured IP in a browser and get the basic management options. I can also retrieve information from this system from a remote system with command-line IPMI tool.

However, I'm unable to connect from Intel Server Manager (ISM) 8.50. I can discover the IMM IP but when I try to connect, it complains with "Invalid IPMI BMC credentials. Please type in the correct user name and password."

I'm wondering if this could be because I'm running from Win7-64?

If not, what else can I try?

I tried to install the newer Multi Server Manager, but that requires IPMI/BMC on the system from which it's run. I only have ASF on this workstation board. Is there another Intel server management package that's newer than MSM?

Thanks,

Brad

hdd led is off on intel ATCA-46xx board (Front panel)

Hi,

I am koteswararao working on intel based x86_64 board (ATCA-46xx) which has

HDD LED that indicates the status about HDD access . During HDD access

LED is 'ON'. But, after applying sgpio related patches specified in below link ,

the HDD LED is continuously 'OFF' and doesn't blink during HDD read/write operations.

The below commit's are backported from 3.2 kernel (kernel.org)

{{{

1.

8ec6552f4a77d15f446b00aed364e3c12d38aa6c

[SCSI] libsas: sgpio write support

2.

3.

ad4f4c1de80abdda5d55315289505598aa78e355

[SCSI] isci: initial sgpio write support

}}}

I have gone through the above commit code and observed that

SGPIO_HW_CONTROL macro defined in 3rd commit in above list

is causing the issue.  I referred C600 data sheet given in below link

http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/c600-series-chipset-datasheet.pdf

to get idea over SGPIO_HW_CONTROL macro bit settings and observed

that LED issue is due to FSENG activity written in to SCU output data select register.

There is no much details about FSENG activity.

Could anyone please let me know more details about FSENG activity?

What does this FSENG activity means?

how it has effect on HDD LED (front panel LED)?

Thanks for allowing me in posting this mail.

Hello All,

I am trying to get the integrated BMC web console working on an S5520HCR mainboard.

I have assigned it an IP address, and I can ping the address and get a response.

When I navigate to http://<IP Address>, or to https://<IP Address>, I get that standard 550 error that the page cannot be displayed.

This is the first time that I have tried the intel system (sorry, but I have always used HP or Dell servers to date), but any help that you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

I am doing my MSc thesis on a system which moves a huge amount of data to a PC through optical fiber.

I've bought E10G42BTDA wich mounts Intel 82599ES.

On the system side I have an FPGA.

I'm wondering if there is any DLL that I can use to read data coming from the FPGA.

I'm running C# code to read.

If not, how can I make it feasible?

Thank you!!

Noise level of FXX1600PCRPS in server P4304CR2LFKN?

I can't seem to find any specifications for the loudness of the fans in the P4304CR2LFKN.

I'm looking to build a workstation that I would keep under my desk.  It would hold a tesla k20 and two e5-2695's for scientific computing (number crunching).

It would need to be located in the office with me and noise is obviously a non-starter as we shop for options.

I like the W2600CR2 but searching high and low and I cannot find any noise specs for the air fans in P4304CR2LFKN or FXX1600PCRPS.

Could someone please help?

Thanks.

Hello,

We are having an issue with our SR2612URR Intel server when you log into the MegaRaid for trouble shooting purposes it locks up on us and we are forced to power off the San.  After some digging we found that the USB is causing the issue, what we would like tod o is set up the SAN to boot up from a SSD drive instead of the USB.  My question is what drive would be good to use and if there are any instructions on how to do this?

Hello;

I just bought a S5000PSL board (used). i have 2 intel xeon cpus installed as well as 16gb ECC FBDIMM. I have reset the cmos as well as stripping it down to 1 DIMM and still no display.

When it POSTs i get this LED error code: Green, Red, Red, Amber. I checked the product documentation and it says that that code means "Disabling the console controller" I have no idea what that means.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thank you for your time.
