Intel BIOS Firmware update package DOESN'T support INTEL Xeon

Hello

Thank you for your email, see below.

Board E51976-406

Serial no: AZGP05000111

BMC 1.23

HSC0.00

ME 06.00.30.1119

SDR 0.18

BIOS S3420GP.86B.01.00.0046

BIOS Build date 09/29/2010.

Before proceeding with BIOS update for Intel® Server Board S3420GPLC reading the important notes section I see the following.

The system BIOS revision provided in this software update package does not include processor microcode to support any production Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors.

Also when running EFI I'm advised to run BMC & FRUSDR before updating the BIOS. I didn't proceed to install update.

I'm TOTALLY confused.  I have Xeon processor.

If I install S3420GPLX/LC Firmware Update Package for EFI fully package how will this affect Xeon processor?

Thank you for your help.

Hello Christopher,

Thank you for your email.  I do not
see an S3420GPC board in the ARK product catalog, but the S3420GP TPS document
refers to the LC SKU as “S3420GPC”, so what you have may be the S3420GPLC: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/server/s3420gp/sb/s3420gp_tps_r2_4.pdf

You can download the BIOS update from
the “Download Drivers” menu option on the left side of the product page.

http://ark.intel.com/products/46533/Intel-Server-Board-S3420GPLC

If you do not see the software you are
looking for in the ARK driver list, you can search the Intel Download Center
website for your board model to see more options.

If you require further assistance, Intel
Customer Support can be reached through the following site:

noticed that 6-Drive Hot-Swap Non-expanded Kit AXX6DRV3GR fully supported with Intel raid controller PS2P1008 which is equivalent to LSI 9280-8E (except maybe firmware difference)

Therefore i would like to ask if it is possible to swap  between an Itel controller PS2P1008 and LSI 9280-8E to achieve the same perforamce?

Expecting reply the soonest

SR2625URLX Server

Hi,

My SR2625URLX server has a beep code 1-5-4-4 and will not POST.  I have tried changing CPUs, RAM, and power supplies.  From the other posts I have read, it seems the remaining fault is the  PDB.  Should look for any other faulty parts?  I have ordered a PDB.

In trying with an ATX power supply, I was able to get to a video display so I think the PDB is at fault.  Does this seem reasonable?

Intel S1200SPL not able to keep chosen boot order

Hello,

Board is brand new, status LEDs looks OK, no strange beeps, cleared CMOS, updated to latest BIOS version, replaced CMOS battery and still can't get the board to keep a boot order I've chosen. Option is set to Legacy.

Drives present are the following:

1 x Samsung Pro 850 256GB SATA (Where the OS is and that's the drive I want to boot from)

2 x Intel SSD 750 1.2TB PCIe (for apps and data, software RAID 1)

2 x Seagate 2TB ST2000DM006 (for system back up)

I see all drives in the BIOS (Have to switch to UEFI mode to see the NVMe drives, but I don't want to boot from them anyway)

So what happen is whatever boot order I pick, it keeps loosing it and tries to boot from the Seagate drives or UEFI devices randomly. I have to press F6 to chose the right drive every single time I boot the server.

Running Windows Server 2016 Standard and SQL Server 2016, and it's rock solid once it's booted.

2 X 16GB Intel certified Micron memory modules and Xeon E3-1245 v5 CPU installed.

Thanks in advance.

I've got an Samsung 840 EVO (but I've used WD Red / Blue / Gold and a couple of Seagate Hdd's too) connected one of the 4 sataII ports all by itself.  I've got the mass storage controller in the bios set to AHCI.  I've also got a PNY video card in the x8 slot.  That's it.

Windows 2016 setup gets past the first re-boot.  Then it BSOD's.  Doesn't complete the setup.  Now, Win 2012 r2 set's up just fine.  Any ideas?

ss4000e firmware version as "lease"?

$

Something happen to my ss4000e 'cause I can't login the system, I can't map drive letter (it shows me the message "The specified network name is no longer available"), but I can ping it succesfully. In Storage System Console I saw in system information that the version of NAS is "lease" instead of firmware version (fs-bc - 1.4b710). Is there a way to reinstall the firmware again? or Maybe I need a new Storage System?

Please let me know what I can do ...

Thanks...

Hi,

I need update my RAID Controller, but I can't update by EFI. The command is not recognized.

After doing some research, I realized that my EFI is in version 1.1 and needs to upgrade to version 2.0 or higher (S5000 PSL)

How can I do this?

How to reset the superuser password for RMM2.

"Slight" problem. We lost the superuser password for one of our RMM2. I cannot find any procedure in any of the available documents, on how to reset the admin superuser password for this above module. Unfortunately no other users are defined on the RMM2.

Question: how to reset the superuser password on the RMM2? The server is physically accessible.

No jumpers on the RMM2

Is there a document that defines the non standard (oem?) IPMI commands for the use with the server board S2600WT2R.

I'm looking for how  to access the I2C on a PCIe card to read some sensors on the board.

I'm using the ipmitool raw command.

Firmware update to SAS drives connected to RS2BL040

How do I update SAS drive firmware when the drives are attached to a RS2BL040?  I don't see this capability in RWC2 or the RAID BIOS.  I have 4 Seagate drives, but one is down 1 firmware revision level, so I want to update it.  SeaTools for Windows won't see the drives through the RAID controller, so I'm kind of stuck.  Any help please?

Thanks.

swapping Intel raid cards- porting RAID arrays

Hi Everyone

I have an Intel RAID card RT3WB080 which has two RAID5 arrays of 4 x3TB drives each, total 8 drives, installed on my workstation.

I have a spare Intel RAID card RS2WG160 with SSD cache key installed, that supports upto 16 drives.

I want to port my 2 RAID arrays to the spare card on the same desktop and expand the array.

Is this possible without destroying / recreating the array.

Look forward to your input and suggestions.

Thanks

Gurvesh

Does S2600CP4 support E5-2689 SR0L6 processor? does it have IPMI builtin or I'll need the RMM 4 module?

Hi,

Does S2600CP4 support E5-2689 SR0L6 processor?

It's not listed in the compaible processor list but would like to make sure before purchase.

Also does the board have IPMI builtin or I'll need the RMM 4 module? RMM 4 or Lite or any will work?

Thanks,

RS2SG244 "latest" firmware, v12.14.0-0185 or 12.13.0-0105 ?

RS2SG244 with 22 SATA drives connected. Updated to "latest" firmware, v12.14.0-0185 now half the drives don't appear. Then I noticed that there is a "High port count" firmware which is only at version 12.13.0-0105 Both are listed as compatible with RS2SG244. Should I have installed 12.13.0-0105 instead, and if so is there anything I can do about it now?

Hello! We have the server Intel Bluff Creek S5500BC motherboard, 16 GB memories and 1 processor. There was a need to increase memory to 32 GB. Bought 4 modules on 4 GB, inserted into the motherboard and she didn't see them. After that exchanged these modules for modules on 8 GB, inserted instead of old and the server gave an error message: "Memory DIMM size invalid". What shall I do?

Using an Adaptec 7805Q with an S1200V3rpl and P4304XXSHCN

Hi

I have the following;

Intel S1200V3RPL Motherboard

Intel P4304XXSHCN Enclosure with a 4 bay HotSwap 3.5" module

Adaptec 7805 RAID controller with aHDmSAS to 4xSATA and 1 SGPIO 5pin x2 row socket with 8 wires connected,

The Hotswap module has a backplane which has 4 SATA connectors on it, it also has an SGPIO,  I2C_IN and I2C_Out sockets.

The Motherboard has the correct connectors on for the SGPIO cabbles supplied.

The SGPIO socket on the backplane is different from the SGPIO connector on the Adaptec cable

My questions are

I understand that the SGPIO provides status information to the LEDs of the hotswap bay.

1. Does the SGPIO on the backplane need to be connected to the Adaptec 7805 or can it be connected to the S1200 Motherboard?

2. What are the I2C_In and I2C_OUT conectors for

3. There will be no loss in performance if no SGPIO cable is connected (Just no status LED info?)

Looking forward to some help
