This has been a big headache for a long time with no real solution posted anywhere on the internet.  Am I allowed to post this? It involved editing the SDR file. thanks

S1200V3RPL 3.02.0002 bios does not allow VT-x properly (Hyper-V won't install)

Built new server with S1200V3RPL board and Xeon E3-1220. Updated to latest bios 6/15,3.02.0002 and installed Server 2012 R2. Tried to install Hyper-V but it says that virtualization is not enabled in bios. Checked settings, turned off/on, power down/up, clear cmos, tried another CPU, pulled hair, etc. Nothing worked. Flashed bios back to previous version from 5/21/2015 3.01.0002, everything is fine. Looks like a bug in latest bios.  We are working on 3.01.0002 bios with no issues but others may run into this without an update. Thanks.

Intel Sapello S5000VSA - no SATA RAID option in BIOS available

Hi Community,

I am on the Intel S5000VSA Mainboard which comes with 5 SATA ports and according to the manual with SATA-RAID:

Motherboard Properties:
Motherboard ID63-0100-000001-00101111-040209-Chipset$0AAAA000_BIOS DATE: 04/02/09 11:22:06 VER: 08.00.10

Motherboard Name

Board Part Number

Intel Sapello S5000VSA

D29137-716

However, there's no RAID option in the BIOS available. I updated BIOS to the latest version, checked several times all settings according to the manual and this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVwKsqSZP0Y but there's really nothing...

Any idea to enable SATA RAID with the "magic trick" ?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Johannes

RWC2 automatically make drive online

Using Raid Web Console 2 on a S1200BTL in ESRT2-Mode, I was wondering if there is a possibility to set an already configured drive online automatically when plugged back in.

We run a SBS 2011 and switch backup drives every day. Since we have no backplanes but only a mobile rack for theses backup drives, ESRT2 does not support hot plug, because it considers them connected directly to the Mainboard.

So we configured them as virtual drives in RWC2. Now, any time we Switch them we have to log in to RWC2 and set the drive replugged drive online manually. Can that be done automatically?

Thanks, Thilo

Hi everybody,

I have a problem with my SC5650WS chassis with S5520SC board. SELVIEW seems to freeze at loading the IPMI drivers when starting through the EFI shell. I am also unable to start SELVIEW in Windows because when installing imbdriver I receive a message that msipmi driver alredy installed and it prevents me from installing imbdriver. How can I solve this problems and launch SELVIEW?

Intel 7260 PCIe + S1200BTS Server Board = Not working

$

Hello,

when i install the Intel 7260 PCIe WiFi Card into my S1200BTS Server Board the card is detected and working. As soon as i install other PCIe Cards alongside with the Intel 7260 Card only the Intel 7260 Card will be detected. All other Cards will not be usable or visible. Intel support says this is because the 7260 PCIe is only designed for Desktop Boards. I wonder how this is even possible since PCIe seems to be a standard and every other Card i plug into this Server Board also works without problems.

Is there any method to workaround this?

Thanks

s5520hc LED Status 54 and does not initialise keyboard

I had a working S5520HC motherboard fitted with 8Gb ram. ( 4 times 2Gb)

I replaced the dimms in an effort to upgrade the memory and the server would not boot. It came up with the Intel splash screen and the keyboard did not initialise. The LED status on the rear of the board was 0x54.

(Reserved for PCI Bus).

I reverted to the old dimms but the error conditions persisted.

I have tried the ff:

starting with only 1 dimm in A1.

Clearing the CMOS ram.

Neither of these helped. Can I assume the motherboard has suffered hardware failure?

Intel Server Firmware Update seems not be validated. This replies to S1200V3, S2600 for V2 and V3. So a bad firmware upgrade can happen because a bit flip or a other case. Did someone knows more ?

Dear Community,

we are a little but professional Server Manufacturer in Berlin, Germany ( http://servermeile.com/ ) that specialised on Intel Server.

So we have verry often to Update Server Firmware before shipping to our customers. Normally all went good but there are some cases, in that something went wrong until the Firmware Update.

In our oppinoin it seems like Intel has ot implementated a solution* yet to ensure a firmware update is  99+% succesfully, so we have to do a verry intensive testing*.

Intel Documentation says how to easy prove the Bios (compare versions in BIOS), but we have seen some cases in that this dont works and even PCT find no error but there was one, we had to fix.

*Example:

- check Hash before Upload to Memory

- check Hash after Upload to Memory

- check Hash after Update

So what can we do, is there at minimum a Hash we can compare to ensure there was no bit flippin @ download or USB Stick creation ?

Correct utility for RST raid management

I loaded a server S1200BTL and installed 2 drives Raid 1. Device Manager shows Storage Controllers->Intel Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA Raid Controller.

Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation sp1 (64 bit).

I am trying to get the management program/utility for this raid system but have had no luck. The Raid Web Console 2 does not see the controller which leads me to believe that is the wrong utility.

Can someone point me to the correct download? All works well. I just need the Intel Storage Manager or whatever it is called now days to alert to a drive issue and be able to manage the Raid.

Does the Intel 750 1.2TB SSD work with the S5520SC mainboard?

Hello all,

I may or may not have bought an Intel 750 NVMe SSD without fully understanding all the technologies involved. That is definitely a mistake that I will own.

That being said, after a moderate amount of exploration and a few BIOS updates later, would anyone know if the 750SSD will work with our Intel S5520SC mainboard with BIOS version 64. Currently the disk is empty with a GPT layout configured. I cannot get it to appear in the BIOS as a bootable option. The option "EFI Optimized Boot" is greyed out.

Thanks for any insight, ideas or advice!

Add new drive to existing RAID 5 array (oce) on RS2WC080?

$

I am using the RS2WC080 RAID card, running the latest version of Web Console 2 (14.11.01.00).

I am trying to add a new drive to the existing RAID 5 array (online capacity expansion), which I know this card supports.

I currently have 5x WD 1TB drives in the RAID 5 array and am trying to add a 6th.

The documentation for Web Console 2 seems out of date and I cannot figure out how to do this.

Please help!

Memory disable S5000VSA

Hello,

I recently acquired an old server with an Intel S5000VSA board, it currently has 8GB of RAM (8x 1GB sticks) and I added an extra two sticks although the DIMM slots I used are coming up as 'Memory disabled' in BIOS.

Is there a way I can enable these slots?

E5-2687w v3 - Exception Type 06 - Invalid Opcode Exception

We are having an issue with all of our E5-2687w v3.  We currently have 11 HP DL360 gen9 in our datacenter.  Each with 2 E5-2687w v3.  They are booting from SAN, which is an EMC VNX5400.  They are connected via QLogic QLE2562 HBA.  Running Windows Server 2012R2.

This error occurs when I have more than 30 LUNS added to a storage group and both host bus adapters plugged in.  If I unplug one of the HBA's then the server will complete POST.  I can then plug the other HBA in and the server runs normally.  However if it reboots, with both HBA's plugged in and more than 30 LUNS attached.  Then the 'red screen' error will be presented.  Interestingly if I have less than 30 LUNS in a storage group the server will also boot normally.  However, that is not a workaround as I have over 60 LUNS in production right now.

All servers with this CPU will generate this error under the same circumstances noted above.

Any ideas how to avoid this error or what it means would be appreciated.

Server Specs Recommended for Small Business

Hi!

I'am new in server board. I work as an IT and Handle 50 client computers.

I use SQL Server for Data Management and I build a server using intel S1200BTS

and I optimize the I/O using built-in embedded raid, we bought the said server to a local

Dealer.

Since the server was a discontinue. My Problem is our database are progressing

and as the system makes a daily backup its increasing in size. we need to migrate to

another server board whose capability can handle speed performance, built-in chipset raid.

What are your recommendation in choosing a server? a specific one, the one will suit to our

small business.

Thank you!

S2600CW Server Board Bios R01.01.0009 UEFI Secure Boot Question

$

Hi folks:

I was going to upgrade my S2600CWTS board to Bios R01.01.00009 which was release a few weeks ago, but in the section marked "IMPORTANT NOTICE" point #5 says this:

5. BIOS R01.01.0009 will enable UEFI Secure Boot and include below limitations:

    - Please read "BIOS UEFI SECURE BOOT IMPACT AND MITIGATION METHOD" section in this

      BIOS release notes

    - All customer settings saved in BIOS NVRAM will be lost after new BIOS upgrade.

    - BIOS downgrade is not allowed if user has enabled BIOS secure boot. All customer

setting will be lost also if downgrade to previous BIOS release.

    - Backup BIOS region is also required to be updated to prevent recovery failure

please use release package to update BIOS.

    - There is downgrade hang risk if you don't follow above rules.

    - Further BIOS release will not suffer from these side effects as the NVRAM region

is formatted as authenticated variable storage

I need some clarification about what "enable UEFI Secure Boot" means.  I'm running ESXi 6 and don't have secure boot enabled.  Does this mean that if I apply this BIOS update that I won't be able to turn off secure boot and will have to reinstall ESXi?  Also, does it mean that I can't legacy boot from a CD or USB stick any longer?  If that's the case, then I'm stuck at the current BIOS level.

Can someone please give some details about what this means relative to how the previous Bios versions operated?

Thanks.
