S5000XVN BMC will not update after failure

PLEASE HELP!

Used the latest BIOS package [S5000PSL_DOS_update_BIOS98_BMC65_FRUSDR48.zip 8/23/09] and the BMC65 failed. Now the board shows the BMC has a version of 0 that is ZERO and nothing will allow me to update the BMC even the force BMC update jumper is not working always with ERROR 17. Needless to say now the systems fans are running at full speed and the power button does not work. How can I recover this? I have tried bootable USB error above and the deployment CD errors with can't communicate with BMC. Is there anyway to fix this? THANKS!!

missing SATA driver with Installing Windows 7 Pro on Intel Server Board S5500BC

I have started installing Win 7Pro when it got to the point where it asked for a driver for storage device, I searched the Intel support site and found S5500 Based Server AHCI SATA Storage Driver for Windows, downloaded the

File name:

RST_9.6.4.1002_Win_drivers_and_utils.zip, unzipped it , choose "Intel® ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller" but I  got a blank screen, why?

I checked the motherboard BIOS selected AHCI for  MASS Storage Device then browse for driver again this time it picked  ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller however it still won't install Windows 7. Anyone have this problem before ? I setting the machine up with one hard disk and one DVD ROM only.  Where is the correct SATA driver for this motherboard?

Please tell me how to update frusdr on r1304jp4oc - i get the latest firmware pack for efi and still nothing - fans are so loud - and this application frusfr is not discovering my platform. Please help me with this.

v1 Modular Server - Compute Module Boot Issues

We have a MFSYS25 v1 that has is having sporadic issues when we reboot a compute module. Sometimes when a compute module reboots (all of them are MFS5520VI) it can't find a boot device. The previous admin would reboot the entire chassis to resolve this issue. The chassis is running firmware version 6.10.

 

I have seen it on the v2 chassis that sometimes when you do a firmware update it can't find the boot device for a compute module. In that case the SCM affinity flips to SCM2 even though none of the modular servers we use have a second SCM. Setting it back to normal fixes it for the time being. I haven't been able to confirm that this is the same issue on this chassis because we don't have this issue every time we reboot.

 

If anyone has any thoughts on this I would be interested in hearing them as official support for this model has ended.

S5000PSL Server board amber light. 2nd mobo and have tried different processors/RAM????

Hello

I recently got an old Intel s5000psl PBA E1127-302. I am trying processors X5470 (dual) which to the best of my knowledge is supported. Can anyone please give me any suggestions/tips to get this running? Currently when I boot all I get is an amber light. When I first tried to boot i did get amber and then a green and red light at the last two LED's. I am also using 1 stick of 2gb FBDIMM memory, that was on the tested memory list. (Kingston)

 

Any suggestions would help! Could this board be DOA? Am I not using a supported processsor?


I am also using a supported chasis with a 600w psu.

i3 540 graphics

I thought this CPU (i3 540 3.07GHz) had HD graphics, but when I try to upgrade the drivers, it says I have a plain generic display adapter with no HD. I am using an S3420GP intel motherboard with 4 GB RAM and Window 7 64bit. Any ideas?

Intel Server Board S2600GZ (Server System R1208GL4DS) & Memory

Hello!

 

I've just buy Server Intel R1208GL4DS with two Xeon E5-2620v2 and installed 8 x Crucial 8192Mb DDR3 1600MHz ECC Reg modules (CT8G3ERSLD4160B).

It wont start in spite of all green leds tell me that all is OK.

I've read instruction and found that S2600GZ Server Board is not support 1600MHz low voltage (1.35v) modules.

After it I've tried to install ordinary DDR3 DIMMs (no ECC, no Reg). Result is the same.

 

The question is: server wont start because these types of DIMMs are not supported? Or possible it is something wrong Server Board or CPU?

I'm asking because it will take a very lot of time for me to change DIMMs or/and Board to another.

 

Signs are:

- three green leds are lighting (System Status LED, 12 Volt Stand-By Present LED, System Power Good LED),

- no any leds are lighting, 

- "No signal" monitor screen,

- fans are rotating,

- keyboard "Num lock" not changing.

 

Any help are highly appreciated!

Memory copy using Intel QuickData Technology

I am doing the experimentation on improving the memory-to-memory copy performance (NIC to memory also, but secondary). I have seen that Intel I/OAT provides the Quickdata technology feature to offload the copies using DMA engine.

1. I haven't seen many i/oat related discussions in past few years, is it replaced with other more improved technology in new chipsets?

2. I need the Quickdata technology feature, how can I detect that my processor has Quickdata technology? In lspci, it is not showing anything related to Intel Quickdata Technology.

3. Which latest system/server should I buy to get the Quickdata Technology feature? If you can tell about NIC to memory copy (similar to TCP/IP offloads in i/oat), that will be very helpful.

Help with setting up SAS/SATA in SR1550ALSASR

Hello,

I bought Intel server SR1550ALSASR and I have been struggling to set it up for three weeks.

 

The seller told me that the server takes either 2.5" SAS or SATA, so I first bought 2TB of SATA but only to realise that whereas the embedded RAID sees the disks, the BIOS doesn't. The server has 'Active SAS/SATA Mid-Plane'. I also bought SAS disks and tried that too but again, the embedded RAID can find the disks but the AMI BIOS F2 Setup doesn't show any disk.

 

I have many years experience of setting up and using servers, and they usually take me a few hours, but this Intel server has been a nightmare to set-up.

 

What could I be doing wrong:

 

1. I have updated the BIOS and firmwares.
2. The SAS are made by HP; and SATA are by Seagate, but none is seen in the BIOS Setup screen.
3. On POST, I can see the disks light on briefly.
4. I can configure both the SAS and SATA disks in the embedded RAID (using RAID 0).
5. I try to set up Linux using LVM (instead) but this failed too due to the disk detection.

 


I wonder what is different about this Intel SR1550ALSASR server from other servers that I have used and still use.

Fan Speed Issue

I bought a new Intel R2208GZ4GC with 2 E5 2680V2 CPU.

 

As a result of a high workload, the CPUs are getting very hot with about 75°C, but the fans are still very low with about 2.418 rpm.

 

My actual bios configuration:

 

Set Fan Profile: performance

Fan PWM Offset: 100

Altitude: 300-900m

Set Throttling Mode: auto

 

OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

 

What should I have to do to tell the fans to increase the speed?

OBJECTIVE: LOOKING FOR PINOUT OF HP-R650FF3 POWER SUPPLY

 

 

Hello dear experts,

 

I am working on one of my client's Intel Server which is not switching ON any longer.

 

These have two redundant power supply, so it would be odd that both would be defective.

 

In any case, I have repaired many switching power supplies in the past, so I opened them up and did not see any physical evidence of a defective part, especially no bump on top of any capacitor.

 

The power supply model is: HP-R650FF3

 

I would like to test each power supply on the oscilloscope, and would need the pinout on these power supplies to be able to switch them ON and test the voltages.

I have called Intel and can provide a support ref.# if required.

Seem to get this email everyday, system has two power supplies and I am trying to find documentation on how to figure our what the different error codes mean.  The most bothersome is the one about the Power Supplies shown below.  Get one email for PS1 and one for PS2.  Both are plugged into different UPSs'.

 

 

Event that generated this alert:

S5500BC AHCI vs. RAID & added SATA Hot Swap Card

Running a S5500BC with ESRT based RAID1 for OS HDD set and a second RAID1 for DATA set.  Would like to add an aftermarket SATA Hot Swap controller to allow local backup onto several 1 TB HDDs in a multi-drive rotation.

 

Aftermarket controller needs to be run in AHCI mode to provide the Hot Swap capabilities.  This has been confirmed in a Win7 Pro environment.

 

As S5500BC BIOS needs to be run in RAID mode to activate the ESRT for the abovementioned arrays is there any way of adding this #2 SATA interface under AHCI to coexist with the ESRT capabilities of the MB?

Processor event alarm details

Hi,

 

My Alarm Management Module is handling IPMI traps from Mullins TIGW1U. I'd like to check, what do i do (user corrective action) in case of processor event alarm?

 

This alarm is mapped to the ipmi traps below. Anyone can advice on the corrective action for each of these event trap?

 

1) processorIERREvent - 1.3.6.1.4.1.343.2.10.3.5.1000.40.1  --> internal error

2) processorFRB1Event - 1.3.6.1.4.1.343.2.10.3.5.1000.40.3 --> faut resilient boot error, BIST failure
