SS4000-E 100% Full Can't access data, enable FTP, or SSH

I've been using this Grrrrreat NAS Array and had been working for YEARS. Just last week it is now 100% Full and my share is gone.

It has FW fs-bc 1.3-b524,   4 x 500GB HD's   and a 1.3TB shares (but i cant access any of the shares \\share any more), but I can PING the NAS

Here is a lot info so you can get idea on the status on the array;

I can login into browser (using Firfox ver 29) the 3 x Green lights are on, the 4 HD's show (and are powered on and green {even during a bootup they do light up in order top/bottom}) also show Hot plug Indicator (in yellow) they are all  ST3500641AS (465GB each), I can't expand the share (it shows i have only available disk space is -2 MB free), It will not let me enable FTP (the on/off button shows, but will not complete when i enable it), i can't enable SSH (the on button shows, but will not complete when i press it), The SHARED folders show NOT READY backup clients NOT Ready. Under the SYSTEM Status screen  CPU is 100% Idle (all day long, even after a reboot(s)), network IPs are still good, FANs are 1704 RPM, disk temps are 54,35,38 Deg C, i can't even make a XRAY and save the file. I've tried using many ver of IE, Google chrome.

So, now I'm asking this community if you can help me. I've ran out of ideas on what to do. I also have the org Recovery CD's (but the PC i'm using does not support the NIC). Is there ANY WAY I can access the DATA off these HD's from ANY other way? like BOOT a CD using USB, Or access the data and maybe del a folder or 2 to free up some space, so that it will boot up.  or some other Advance HTTP CGI script (fsck check, del temp files..etc), that will enable me to see the boot up, or enable TFTP (i even tried to connect using that) or any other copy job.

i have been reading the posts and i did find out someway  you can make a serial ribbon cable and show the boot up (by taking case off), but i have not tried that part yet.

Any help you can give?

Thank you for your time.

P4308RPLSHDR mounting RAID cache battery

Hello,

The P4308RPLSHDR has an 8 bay hot swap HDD unit that blocks the RAID cacher battery mounting location.

Where do Intel suggest the cache battery be mounted in this chassis as a result of the designed position being unavailable

S4600LH, flashupdt, system freeze

$

I have a new S4600LH with an old BIOS that doesn't recognize my E5-4627 V2 CPU's.  I am running Centos 6.5. with the latest updates as of today.

I downloaded the flashupdt utility and installed the RPM, but when I run it the system immediately locks up and requires the reset button -- the watchdog process reboots it after a short while.

I tried with both the -i and -u options and it locked up the same way.  The -h option works at least.  Here is where the lock up happens:

# /usr/bin/flashupdt/flashupdt -i

One Boot Flash Update Utility Version 11.0 Build 15

  Copyright (c) 2013 Intel Corporation

(zzzzzzz, system is frozen at this point)

What do I have to do to make flashupdt work?  I'll try the UEFI process just for fun, but the Linux utility is the most important one to get working.  Don't you have a way for the BIOS to read the updates from a CDROM (or USB-copied CDROM image)?  That would be much more compatible and easy to use than any of these other methods.

Thanks,

Mark

Hello,

I have a SR2612UR server with S5520UR board and RS2bl040 raid controller. I have recentrly installed some Samsung SSD's and the performance was improved but after a few days the server rebooted unexpectedly. In Intel Active System Console i found the following logs:

I found on some other forums that C6 State setting from BIOS could cause some troubles and disabling could solve those random reboots. Coult that be the sollution? Is there any side effects for disabling C6 CPU State?

S1600JP Just pulled it out of the box, and tried to upgrade the BIOS and now it doesn't post?

I pulled this server out of the box and installed 8gb of ram and a E52603 V2 Chip in it.

It came up and posted.

It warned me that I needed to install the latest bios to make this Processor work correctly. < this is lame that the server isn't ready for a processor out of the box.

So I thought this shouldn't be to hard,

Intel® Server Board S1600JP Family and Intel Server System R1000JP IDA

Firmware Update Package for Intel® Deployment Assistant, Intel® One Boot Flash Update Utility, The embedded EFI Shell, Windows* Preboot

I loaded this on a USB drive thinking it would be the right one to update. The Words "One Boot Flash Update Utility." Really grabbed my eyes as being the right one. So if its wrong I am sorry.

So I booted up and the usb drive was found, and it said it would upgrade unless I hit esc. So I let it run.

When I thought it was done, it said it had completed and gave me 5 options and the 5th one was to exit. I choose 5, and it did a few things and told me I should restart the system using the from panel. I assumed that it meant the power button. So I pressed it.

That was the end.

Now when I press the power button it just acts like it's turning on but it doesn't post anything on the screen.

Yes I checked the cable it's on it snug.

Any thoughts????

MFSYS25 - One Drive in Storage Array Failing Causes Entire Chassis to Fail?

$

Hello,

We have an MFSYS25 chassis (details below) which has a strange but rather critical problem.

Whenever a drive fails on the RAID setup we have the entire system locks up. The fans speed up; all of the compute modules restart but do not go anywhere, and we can barely manage the system as the management console hangs up. What we find that we have to do is completely unplug and plug back in the power to the system and then start the rebuild on the failed drive. Then, we can start the compute modules and get the various servers going again, etc.

Has anyone else experienced this? What can we do to add some resiliency to the system?

Thank you for your time.

Hello,

I have an Intel Multiflex system MFSYS25 with six blades and an Promise vTrak e310s.

4 of the servers have internal storage presented but i want that the other two servers to boot from Promise and use a shared lun. I followed the instructions in the connection guide from intel but when i'm trying to boot the second server, the first one freezes and cannot access the storage.

What is strange, is that even i don;t have any internal storage presented to the servers, in the LSI sas from the blade i see a lun 0 Multiflex V-LUN. How can i disable it?

I have to mention that i use RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.5 on the servers.

Please advice,

Thank you,

What is best practice for Intel RST RAID chipset and Linux?

$

0

I have servers and desktops with Intel RST RAID chipset on the board.  I want to install Centos Linux 5 or 6.

I read many posts on the Internet and understand that RST is host-based or "fake" RAID.  I also downloaded the Intel RST pdf on this subject, but the document doesn't give pros and cons on setting up in the BIOS other than the boot loader is stored there.

So what is the best practice for setting up RAID-1 (mirror) on Linux boxes.

Should I setup as mirror in the BIOS?  Centos 5.9 and later have the drivers and will view the RAID as a single volume during install.

Should I leave the disks as independent non-RAID and setup as software RAID?

I will install the mdraid or dmraid afterwards to check status, etc.

What is the best practice for this and what are disadvantages of setting up as mirror in the BIOS?

Thank you.

Fan Speed Issue

I bought a new Intel R2208GZ4GC with 2 E5 2680V2 CPU.

As a result of a high workload, the CPUs are getting very hot with about 75°C, but the fans are still very low with about 2.418 rpm.

My actual bios configuration:

Set Fan Profile: performance

Fan PWM Offset: 100

Altitude: 300-900m

Set Throttling Mode: auto

OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

What should I have to do to tell the fans to increase the speed?

Thanks,

Problem with Intel RAID Controller RS3UC080

I have an RSCUC080 RAID Controller card and the arrays connected to this controller randomly disappear from the system.  The arrays usually reappear after rebooting the machine, but every once in a while they do not and I have to reboot multiple times.  This usually happens at least once a day and has been going on for several weeks.  I did not have this problem the first several week I had this card.  The controller card is still under warranty, but I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions about what the problem could be before submitting a warranty claim.

I have the latest BIOS and firmware for all the components below including the RS3UC080.

Thanks,

Shane

S2600CP CPU Fan Control

I just built a new server with a S2600CP motherboard, Xeon E5 CPU and BXSTS100C Cooler. It's all up and running quite well, but the CPU fan is LOUD!. It's obviously running at full speed, as you can hear it step up during the boot process. The cooling fins are almost cold due to the high air flow,  is there some way to lower the fans speed and ths reduce the noise coming from this thing?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I had tried to diagnose Intel Grentley platform with two Haswell-EP 2.40Ghz ES L0 stepping 12 core 135W CPU installed by Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool v2.10.0.0.MP under Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64 OS but got QPI link rate test failed message here, also the FSB could not be detected, I've no idea if IPDT support Haswell-EP CPU or not, but the BIOS could detect QPI link rate as 9.6T/s correctly, please advise.

Hi,

i have an older Intel Server with S5000VSA, latest Firmware and Updates installed. Windows 2012 Server Standard as OS. I added 2 WD4000F9YZ 4TB drives to the internal RAID controller, but when I go into the Configuration Utility at Startup using Ctrl+E the two drives are shown with the correct type, but only 1717783MB of capacity, which is about half of the real size. On another Computer the drive is recogniced correct with 4TB.

Using the Raid Web Console (newest Version) they aren't shown at all. Under physical are only my two old WD 600GB SATA drives???

Please help

My server takes a long time to get past the POST. Below is my configuration,

It takes about 40 seconds to just complete the POST and show any kind of display on the monitor.

I have updated the firmware to the latest found on intel's website but still no luck. I have tried disabling network boot, disabling/enabling Quiet boot....nothing works.

Please help me with getting this fixed.

Intel Server Board S2600GZ (Server System R1208GL4DS) & Memory

Hello!

I've just buy Server Intel R1208GL4DS with two Xeon E5-2620v2 and installed 8 x Crucial 8192Mb DDR3 1600MHz ECC Reg modules (CT8G3ERSLD4160B).

It wont start in spite of all green leds tell me that all is OK.

I've read instruction and found that S2600GZ Server Board is not support 1600MHz low voltage (1.35v) modules.

After it I've tried to install ordinary DDR3 DIMMs (no ECC, no Reg). Result is the same.

The question is: server wont start because these types of DIMMs are not supported? Or possible it is something wrong Server Board or CPU?

I'm asking because it will take a very lot of time for me to change DIMMs or/and Board to another.

Signs are:

- three green leds are lighting (System Status LED, 12 Volt Stand-By Present LED, System Power Good LED),

- no any leds are lighting,

- "No signal" monitor screen,

- fans are rotating,

- keyboard "Num lock" not changing.

Any help are highly appreciated!

With best wishes,

Maxim

Hi

I have a question about the Intel S1200BSTR Serverboard. I would like to build a ESX Lab and Need a Server Board with vt-d Support (for TV Card passtrough). I see in the specifications that this board will Support vt-d. In some communitys i had read that the board will not Support vt-d. I wrote a Email to Intel Support and they told me that it will Support vt-d. Whats is correct now?

Does anyone has practical experience with that board and can tell me if it will work or not?

I will use the following Processor with support vt-d: Intel E3 1265Lv 2

S5520UR BMC lost

Hi Experts,

I have an S5520UR motherboard in a SR2612UR server.

It worked for years but before a new OS install I decided to update it to the latest (already 3 years old) firmware.

I installed the BIOS60/BMC58/FUR26/ME112 via the the EFI shell.

During the update I already noticed that the FRU and ME updates are failed saying "BMC are already in firmware transfer mode".

After reboot I noticed that I BMC LAN menu is greyed out in BIOS.

I removed the power cord redo the update with same result, Boot block are showing version 0.00

I tried the force update jumper according to: https://communities.intel.com/message/86309#86309

reset to default bios settings, force update on and back again but it does not fixed the BMC.

Luckily the machine boots, works ok, but I`m afraid without a working BMC it will not run well and maybe damaged.

Do you have any advice what should I try to resurrect the BMC ?

What is you opinion about running the server without working BMC ?

I wish you have a better luck.
