Came in this morning and the server is up and running. There is no video output. The keyboard lights are blinking in a pattern. 2 blinks - pause - one blink - pause - repeat. Keyboard, mouse and monitor all test good. I'm hesitant to reboot.

Any ideas?

"The capsule file failed in the security compliance check" error while updating BIOS on Intel S2600cp Server Board

$

While attempting to update the BIOS on an Intel S2600cp server system board I receive an error that says "The capsule file failed in the security compliance check. Please refer to BIOS release notes for details." The BIOS update doesn't complete successfully.

This is happening on two server boards that I just bought both used that that are both currently running BIOS version 1.04.2096.

I am attempting to update to Intel® Server Board S2600CP Firmware Update Package for EFI Version: 02.06.0006 which I have downloaded directly from the Intel website https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26957/Intel-Server-Board-S2600CP-Firmware-Update-Package-for-EFI?product=61088.

What do I need to do to fix this issue?

I have followed the instructions on the website for creating the bootable flash drive for installing this BIOS update by formatting the drive with the FAT file system and then copying the extracted files directly to the thumb drive.

The flash drive boots fine, provides me with the usual option and I choose option 1 to update the firmware and then option 2 to update the BIOS. Or I get the same error if I choose option 2 to update the BIOS.

I even used the same thumb drive that had this BIOS update on it that I had previously used to update the BIOS on another S2600cp server board (that was running a newer version of the BIOS) and this other server board updated successfully and without any issues at all. Now I am unable to update the BIOS on these two other S2600cp server boards that are running the older BIOS version.

I have recreated this bootable flash drive, have created the bootable flash drive on a different flash drive, have reset the BIOS to the default settings, and have examined the BIOS settings but so far haven't found any solutions that have fixed this issue.

What else can I do to fix this issue so that I can successfully update to this latest version of the BIOS? Do I first need to update to a newer (but not the most recent version of the BIOS) and then I will be able to update to the latest BIOS version?

Need clarification on SATA/OCuLink cabling for R1000WF

Is it possible to plug both SATA/SAS cable from motherboard and OCuLink cables to the same coordinating slots (that is for 8-drive 2.5" backplane I connect SATA/SATA0-3 connector and PCIe SSD #0,1,2,3 - Fig.36 from TPS R1000WF) so that I could plug SATA or NVMe to the same slot and backplane will route signals to SATA or OCuLink cable automagically (or by BIOS setting). I saw a "steering resistors" on fig. 3 "Server board architecture" in Technical Product Specification for R1000WF platform which imply that this scenario is possible?

Connect two JBOD in one server

$

I have one Intel server R1304BB4DC and Intel disk chassis JBOD2312S2SP connected to the server via SFF-8080 to a SAS Expander.

I want to connect second disk chassis Intel JBOD2312S3SP.

Because of my Intel server hasn't free extension slots I want to connect second disk chassis through the first JBOD. Like this: R1304BB4DC <-- JBOD2312S2SP <-- JBOD2312S3SP

I think that for such connection I need to install to my first JBOD Interface Converter Board AXXSAS88CNVRT and SAS Expander RESCV360JBD from the list of Compatible Products of the JBOD2312S2SP
I suppose I need connect two SFF-8088 from JBOD2312S3SP to the Interface Converter Board in the JBOD2312S2SP. Then connect three (1 per 4 disks) SFF-8087 from Interface Converter Board AXXSAS88CNVRT to the SAS Expander RESCV360JBD.
Or I need just plug one HBA like LSI SAS 9207-8e to the Intel JBOD2312S2SP and connect to it second disk chassis JBOD2312S3SP?

In result, I want to get 24 disks in my server per 12 from each JBOD.

Please tell me whether I understood and appreciated all correctly.

32GB DIMM for Intel R1304BB4DC

Hello,

I would like to upgrade RAM on my Intel R1304BB4DC server.

I have installed 1 CPU E5-2407, so I have only 6 DIMM slots for the upgrade.

In the Intel ARC specification for my R1304BB4DC server written max memory capacity 384GB. The installed Intel Xeon E5-2407 supports 384GB as well.

That means for 1CPU and 6 DIMM slots I can get just 192GB, 32GB per slot.

Ok. So I need 6 RDIMMs by 32GB each.

But our supply department says that can't find DIMMs by a 32GB of capacity for this server.

Also Kingston, Crucial and Hynix sites not found 32GB DIMMs for Intel R1304BB4DC server.

I have found CMTL Tested Memory List for Intel® Server Board S2400BB Family and Intel® Server System R1000BB/R2000BB Families.

But In the CMTL list no DIMMs with 32GB capacity from Kingston, Crucial, Hynix or even Samsung or other known me, manufacturers.

Please help me find 32GB DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600 RDIMM for my Intel R1304BB4DC server from Kingston, Crucial or Hynix.

Intel RAID Web Console 3 - how do we add servers to the GATEWAY server

Hi, downloaded RAID Web Console 3 from here Download Intel® RAID Web Console 3 for Windows*

- Install the GATEWAY server on a remote machine, can log in ok.

- Installed the RAID driver version (SAS v6.713.05.00 (Trimode wont load, even though its listed there doesnt appear to be drivers in the package for this card)) for the RMS3CC090 on a S1200SPOR server running Windows 10 Pro

- Installed the DIRECT AGENT service for RAID Web Console 3 on the above server.

Logging in to the GATEWAY server, then pressing "Re-discover servers", this remote Windows 10 S1200SPOR with the RMS3CC080 never shows up.

We have disabled the firewall on the Windows 10 system

We have disabled the firewall on the gateway server

Is there no way of adding servers to the gateway server?

All documentation for Intel RAID Web Console 3 says the RMS3CC080 is fully supported...

Many Thanks

S2600CW2 turns off LAN and reduce CPU performance when redundant PSU unplugged

Hello,

We have a problem with one server.

Issue:

There are two absolutely identical servers in the same power network. There are redundant PSU in each server. There are 2 CPUs are installed in each server. Time to time one of PSU is unplugged for some period of time. The first server works correctly.

But the second one gives such warning:

The speed of processor 6 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.

and also:

"The network interface "Intel(R) I350 Gigabit Network Connection #2" has begun resetting.  There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets.

Reason: The network driver did not respond to an OID request in a timely fashion.

This network interface has reset 5 time(s) since it was last initialized."

"Intel(R) I350 Gigabit Network Connection #2

Network link is disconnected."

As a result server hungs up once in 2-3 weeks. It is a surveillance server.

What we tried to do:

- BIOS, FW and drivers - all are latest and greatest. Didin't help.

- Changed power plan to High Performance and also changed CPU minimum speed to 100% - didn't help

- Untick option "Allow to disable this device to save power" for LAN adapters. - didn't help.

Most interesting is that when there is one PSU plugged and working, there is no errors. When you plug the second PSU without power cord - errors appear. And it does not make any difference which PSU you try to unplug.

Seems like this problem is hardware related. But what shall we try to change? Power Distribution Module or motherboard?

Regards,

Sergei.

R2308WFTZ and fan issues

Hi experts,

we are having an issue with unusual high noise level of the fans of one R2308WFTZ Server System. For whatever reason the system fans seem to have a high rpm even if the system is not under load. They basically speed up at the boot of the unit and never deacrease (or increase).

The system events are showing following messages which may indicate a problem with the fans!?:

However all 6 fans are working normally (but with high rpm)...

What could be the issue? What can we do?

Thanks

Random fan spin-up on R1304SPOSHBNR, take 2

Continuing from my earlier post at Random fan spin-up on R1304SPOSHBNR

It has been a while, but I now have an additional unit, this time with Intel certified memory, that is experiencing the same symptoms. Namely, at random intervals, ranging from 15 minutes to a few hours, the fans will spin up to full speed for a few seconds before returning to normal speed. I narrowed the cause down to the P1 Therm Margin sensor, which will occasionally be unreadable for a moment. See the attached video file to see this in action.

These servers are all running CentOS Linux.
