Hello,
I am dissapointed due to low performance (slow wirte/read speeds) on the NFS functions on my SS4000E.
I would like to get faster machine, and I would like to ask, is the memory upgrade will increase speeds? If not, what should I do, to get faster sercies on this machine?
Thank you
After lot of errors and data losses have replaced all the disks.
Currently I have no problems, but I am not sure what was happened earlier errors. Is it any test command (from ssh or web interface) which can I put to push the NAS to the detail test all of their hardware?
Thank you for any replies.
Hi,
I was wondering whether Quicksync is compatible with Windows Home Server 2011?
I have an Asus P8H77-I, Intel 3450 CPU, 4Gb ram but I can not activate hardware acceleration in WHS2011. I have all the latest drivers installed.
If I use the exact same hardware and install Windows7 or Windows8 with latest drivers, then quicksync works fine.
Is there an issue with Quicksync and WHS2011 or is there a work around to get it working?
Thanks for your help.
I have a SS 4200-E NAS device that will not go beyond the web page screen of Disk Change Notification. I have rebuilt the RAID a couple of times and reset to factory but to no avail. I have checked the articles from other discussions for this model and non of them seem to help me. My goal is to reset this device to scratch so I can repurpose it for a backup to a server. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Hello
We have an Intel Server (as mentioned in title) with the following config:
16 GB RAM
1 CPU Intel Xeon E5-2630
4 x Hitachi HUC109090CSS600 in RAID 6, with two partitions: C (300GB) and D (1.34TB)
APC Smart-UPS 2200
Windows Server 2012 Standard
In Intel Raid Web Console, the setup is as follows:
- Disk Cache Policy: Unchanged
- Read Policy: Always Read Ahead
- IO Policy: Direct IO
- Write Policy: Write Back (with default policy - Always Write Back, as we did not purchase a BBU yet)
For a week since we installed this server, everything went smoothly. Yesterday evening the Event Viewer logged the following events (in order of appearance):
- 12 x The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report. = 1 warning for each logical CPU
- 3 x While transmitting or receiving data, the server encountered a network error. Occasional errors are expected, but large amounts of these indicate a possible error in your network configuration. The error status code is contained within the returned data (formatted as Words) and may point you towards the problem. - which I assume is from a short power failure that happened around that time - we have some switches in other locations, not backed up by UPSes.
Since then, the disk access became slower than a normal SATA disk, and all activity is just sluggish. Even launching the Event Viewer takes a lot of time. I've seen this performance before switching from Write Thru to Write Back.
I've rarely seen the CPU going above 20% and the memory has a constant rate of 36% usage.

Hi,
today I got my brand new ST4000NM0033 Constellation ES.3 4TB drive.
I plugged it into my server (Intel S3420GPLC motherboard, onboard SATA controller) and - bad surprise - I saw a size of only 1801 GB (BIOS level) and 1678 GB (Windows Server 2008 R2 level).
Switching between MBR and GPT modes in Windows did not make any differences.
Intel claims it should support drives larger than 2 TB (see http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-032920.htm).
So I plugged it into my IcyBox and hooked it up to my PC (Win 7 x64) by means of USB 2.0. Same story - only 1678 GB are recognized.
Then, I used the same IcyBox and connected it to the same PC by means of e-SATA. And what a surprise - it was properly recognized at 3726 GB, and I created and formated a partition of this size.
Finally, I plugged it back into my S3420GPLC Server. The ServerManager GUI tool now Claims 3726 GB, but diskpart stays at 1678 GB.
Now the 300€ question (that's about what I paid for the disk):
how do I get my server to recognize the full capacity consistently? How much data can I actually put on it?
Any help would greatly be appreciated!
Thanks a lot,
Tom
Hi,
I am having problems installing the ESRT2 RAID driver with a clean install of Red Hat 5.5 on a SR2500 server with 2 drives on RAID1. I am following the attached instructions but when when I reboot the server at the end the RAID1 configuration seems to be missing on the controller and the server is not booting up.
I think the problem is that my usb floppy disk is detected as /dev/sda and so the RAID unit, so I get error message about file already existing when doing the mount /dev/xxx/temp command.
I have wasted two days of work trying to make this work. Could you please help me on what I am doing wrong?
Many thanks
Bea.
Hi,
I am trying to configure a server for which I have selected following components:
1) Intel Server Board S2600CP2
2) Intel Xeon E5-2620
3) Intel Server Chassis P4308XXMFEN
4) Apart from this, I want to installKingston 16 GB 1.5V ECC Registered DDR3 KVR16R11D4/16I RAM modules on the above mentioned board.
I want to know two things about the above mentioned configuration:
1) if there is a way to speak to someone either from Intel technical support or someonei who can confirm that above mentioned configuration will work perfectly, and
2) if I can purchase the first three items i.e. Intel board, processor and chassis directly from Intel in India ?
Any suggestions or contacts in this regard are welcome.

hi community
i have the problem that my intel storage manager shows all sata hdd's in raid 1 and raid 5 are broken.. (the hdd's are brand new!!)
what can i do? maybe it's possible, the compatability from the bios version and from the intel rapid storage manager version is wrong? according to the hardware raid manager shows that all hdd's are working correct!
i have the following hardware:
Systeminformation:
OS: Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard
Serverboard Modell: Intel S2400GP
BIOS-Version: Intel Corp., SE5C600.86B.01.06.0002.110120121539
Intel Rapid Storage-Technologie (Enterprise)
User Interface Version: 3.6.0.1094
Intel Controller: SATA (AHCI)
SATA-Ports Count: 6
Version of RAID-Extensions-ROMs: 3.2.0.1022 (the version 3.2.0.1016 is compatible with the above-named BIOS-version?! have found this under "http://downloadmirror.intel.com/21934/eng/BIOS_01.06.0002_ReleaseNote.txt")
Driver-Version: 3.5.1.1008
ISDI-Version: 3.6.0.1094
i'm on the edge of despair have searched many hours under intel.com vainly..

I am trying to install Server 2008 R2 onto a new server. The server is using an S2600CP2 motherboard, and I have configured it in BIOS to use the esrt2 onboard RAID. I was then able to get into the RAID BIOS and configure 3 of my 4 drives to run as a RAID5 virtual drive. the last drive has been marked as a hot spare.
the problem I am having is that I can't seem to find a driver during the windows installation that will allow me to recognize the virtual drive. I have even gone so far as to remove the virtual drive and boot to 4 blank drives, and have yet to have the option to install even onto a single drive.
For adddtional information, I am using the RKSATA8R5 upgrade key for RAID5 support in the esrt2 configuration. The sata ports being used by the drives are SATA0-3, and the SAS/SATA ports 0-7 are not being used. Also, strangely, the DVD drive is not being recognized by the Windows installer, either... it is using the SATA5 port.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the right drivers for installation of Server 2008 R2, or offer ideas on what might be wrong with my configuration?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Ben
I have a Core i7 industrial PC with Gigabit LAN Controller Intel 82583V.
My OS is Windows Server 2012 64bit.
OS driver set does not cover this adapter; I tried with Windows 8 driver but no luck.
Specific driver for Win2012 does not exist on Intel Download Center.
Anyone can provide some hint please?
Thanks

I Have a RS2BL080 controller with 6 3tb drives in raid 5. Probably not going to do so for a few terabytes yet, but if I wanted to replace all those drives with 4tb drives is that possible And use the extra space in the current array? I don't have another place to store my current array to recreate it.
THanks.

Hello all,
I am new to these boards - I did have a search but didn't find anything specific for the issue I am seeing so apologies for the new thread.
I am coming across an issue with a server I have when I configure the onboard Intel RMM4.
I configure the RMM as dedicated (rather than a shared interface) with the correct IP address etc. Once configured, I can ping RMM fine. Logging into IE and connecting to the RMM, then navigating a few pages within the RMM the page becomes unresponsive and the ping is unreachable.
I have had this with two separate servers now.
The RMM4 can ping then I login to the RMM GUI and after a short while the ping becomes unreachable. (Have been running a ping -t in the background - ping is working fine, then all of a sudden it drops.)
I have confirmed network is not an issue, or config of IP addresses etc. Have attempted connecting laptop direct to management port / RMM4 interface and still unable to ping.
Does anyone have any ideas in this matter?
Thanks in advance
Richard
I have provided a more detailed set of steps carried out on the new server below:
Installed new server
Configured RMM
ipmitool lan set 3 ipaddr 10.2.211.131
ipmitool lan set 3 netmask 255.255.255.0
ipmitool lan set 3 defgw ipaddr 10.2.211.1
(note customer network interface is configured as 10.2.211.130)
ping 10.2.211.131 success
Load IE and connect to RMM GUI, logged in
After a short while session becomes unresponsive.
ping unreachable
reboot - still can’t ping RMM
Hard power off server by pulling power cables, wait for server to come up - can ping RMM.
Run RMM GUI, with -t ping in background, after navigating a few screens ping becomes unreachable.
Check BIOS and RMM config (will try and attached photo). Correct configuration.
ipmtool lan print 3 shows correct config

have already Googled for 2 days now and haven't find a solution for this.
I have a NAS INTEL SS4000-E, with 3 Disks RAID 5 the poblem is... I lost access to my RAID 5 array... after 2 rebuilds (successful ones) I cant mount the array... One disk stopped working in one day, made the rebuild, ok, in the day after a second disk stopped, new rebuild, to a new disk... now i cant access my shared folders... I have tried to update the firm ware to the last version, from 9 to 10 after the rebuild because the web page was acting strange, not showing logos and images... now this is what I have....

I want to buy this 1U server http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/s3200sh/sb/s3200sh_config_guide_1_5.pdf with motherboard Intel S3200Sh and I need to know if I can use it as a web server with Linux CentOS. Will work or it supports only software Raid ?
When trying to update the firmware with the content of IR3_2108SASHWR_FWPKG-v12.13.0-0154.zip on a USB stick,
it fails with:
Adapter 0: Intel (R) RAID Controller RS2BL040
Vendor ID: 0x1000, Device ID: 0x79
.....
FW error description:
flash image was bad
Exit Code = 13
I have tried to copy the files on another USB stick, and also tried to update from Linux using Cmdtools2 with same result.
Is there a problem with the MR410p.rom file, or am I using the wrong file ?
